Interior Middle Dome Light Noise ?

Hi, I have a 2005 Limited. About 1 month ago I started noticing a very odd sound in the middle dome light assembly.

As with any 4th gen, when you turn off the ignition and then open the door latch to exit the vehicle the interior lights illuminate. However, when the light illuminates it is making a weird sort of "spring" like sound. Lasts for about 1 to 2 seconds.

Let me try to describe the sound:

If you took a small spring, held one end with your hand and plucked the other end with your other hand. You know those door stops with the rubber nub on the end that we played with as kids? Kind of like a muted version of that. It isn't all that loud but it's definitely noticeable.

Anyway, not sure if anyone else has experienced this and if there are any known causes/solutions to rectify. I haven't taken it apart yet because both bulbs are functioning fine it is just making this weird noise (and only when it illuminates)...

Thanks for reading and posting any ideas you may have.

Apologies if my answer is out there in another forum. I did a search and came up with zero results.

Mine vibrates over certain road conditions... kind of sounds like someone driving up behind me with way too much base! I plan to remove it and see if I can add some foam behind it to dampen the vibration.

I had that same buzz awhile back and for the life of me I can't remember what I did to fix it. It was a very simple fix though. Will post back if i can recall the fix.

thanks...that would be great if you can recall what fixed it. it is not happening when moving. it is when the vehicle is in park at a total stand-still...

Take off the light cover and try reseating it

I don't think the light cover has anything to do with it, however I would pull the bulbs out of the cabin dome and the cargo dome and try reseating them. I would also try switching both domes to the off position and run them off for a couple days and see if these two things make any difference.

I took the bulbs out and tried reseating them:

Both out = noise gone.
1 bulb = noise only from the 1 bulb
both bulbs = i still get the sound after reseating

I might try getting 2 new bulbs and see if that does the trick. Maybe they are just worn. I think the sound is the small metal retention clip when it energizes. With out the bulb the circuit is open so I dont think they are getting power.

It's weird there are not more ppl experiencing the same sound. I wonder if LEDs would be worth trying?
