Question stereo upgrade upgrade

recently acquired a 12" audiovahn sub and 250W Kenwood Amp
My question is should I disable and remove the factory 8" JBL to ensure proper boom. Experts say to only use the same size subs
I am just curious if anyone has tried other wise?
I plan on using banana wires(RCA), and hiding the amp inside the rear panel to maintain storage in the rear.

I would only because the stock sub is not loud or low and is very muddy. I would probably use the inputs from the stock sub to drive signal to you new one too.

is it just me???

I think that the 4R has a DECENT stereo stock....I have the 10spk/6 disc JBl system and I was honestly expecting it to sound alot worse than it does. An upgrade is always good though....

Yes, disable the stock sub. You can use different size subs in a system but you need an EQ and real good hearing to notice the difference. For your system you should just use the audiobahn.

Stereo

I have a 2000 limited and I am looking to upgrade the stereo, I want to install a unit that will look from the factory. As I live on Guam we do not get the feed for the Nav systems that are the rage now. I would still like the full screen so that I can watch movies, and an I phone, I pod hook up and blue tooth, I am looking at putting all new speakers and amps as well. Apprecaite all the insight.

I agree. I have a 920BT and its nice. But they are pricey. I paid $900 a few months ago

EDIT: I see you don't need navigation. The Pioneer double din DVD/iPod/etc I was looking at when I was still deciding can be found for $400-600
They have front USB plug decks and rear USB plug decks. I chose one with rear USB b/c my iPod stays in the car and I didn't want some hanging out when I parked somewhere.
