Looks great! What year was the FJ? The off-road package shocks are Bilstens and look like 5100s (maybe there are) right? Was this a direct bolt on or did you need to modify anything? Thanks!

I'm not 100% sure about the amount of lift you'll get with the V8, I'd imagine about .5"~ less then a V6. If you find out, and are looking for a little more, I have a pair of .5" front spacers I'm selling that will help make up the difference, if you're interested.

My rear coils were from a 2007 FJ & were a perfect fit on my ‘07 SE. Can’t speak to other model years but I don’t think FJs changed much over time. Mine is a V6 so not sure on the other part.

after so many months of lurking on this thread, i finally removed my shot xreas system and replaced it with Bilstein 5100 all corners with a 2007 FJ springs. More than the looks, I really like how it handles the bumps now than my old set up. My '05 Sports Edition used to have a 2" leveling kit, but with an almost 195k mileage, the call to replace it has been buzzing my ears for quite some time. Glad i made the decision and looking forward to hit the fishing trails.

Bilstein 5100 set up @ 1.75 front and 1.25" spacers on the rears got these measurements; front driver 36.3"/ front passenger 36.4" & both side rears 37.95"

Found some FJ springs and trying to figure out what’s best. My truck has about 150k miles on the stock suspension.

FJ springs with 50k for $20
FJ springs with 20k miles for $80

IMO the difference isn't that much. Depends on how much you wanna spend.

$20 it is! The guy seems chill and is fairly local so it makes it easier anyway. Now just need 5100s to become available.

Has anyone tried using Fox 2.0 shocks instead of 5100s?

I thought I settled at .85 but the 1.75 setting looks so good.
If you haven't pulled the trigger yet, I'm glad I went with the 1.75 setting over the .85. No issues with UCAs or alignment, just some minor fender lining rub in the front. Easy fix w/ a heat gun. Also removed mud flaps and running boards. Picked up some General Grabber ATX 265/70/17 last week and love the look and results. MPG is down slightly but still averaging about 18-19 MPG per tank. The only thing I would have done differently is a 1.5" rear spacer instead of a 1".

I recently picked up springs from a 2010 FJ. The fronts were still assembled so I rented a spring compressor and took them them apart today. It appears one of the front springs (left) has more coils than the other (right). I count 8 coils versus 7. I assume the longer sprint helps correct the drivers side lean. Does this mean I won’t need a spacer? My trucks a V8. Thanks!

The taller spring is meant for the driver's side. They are side-specific.

Yup, got that. Wondering if with the heavier V8 if I’ll still need a spacer to correct drivers side lean?

You have to figure that the extra weight will effect both sides equally. IIRC the driver-side spring has a slightly higher rate then the passenger side. I think you'll just see a lower amount of total lift then if you had a v6. I could be wrong though but I wouldn't add a spacer just to the driver side.

Ugh, I really need to get off my ass and get this done. Have had the FJ springs sitting in the garage for close to 8 months now. Going to do 5100s and planning on getting new tires for the winter.

Pretty torn on 265/70/17 vs 285/70/17. Really sucks that the 285 doesn't fit in the spare spot. If I were to go with 285s I'd keep the stock spare and just have to shuffle it to one of the front wheels in case of a flat.

Right now leaning toward FJ+5100 all around, 1" or 1.5" spacers for the rear to maintain the rake and 265/70/17 KO2s.
