Time to replace the stock struts/shocks on my 2008 SR5 V6
90% road (so nice ride is appreciated)
10% in the Northern Michigan woods
I don't want to lift...
High end would likely be Bilstein 4600s ... (but I read can be hard).
Will TRD from a 2022 gen 5 fit?- if so, is ride "nice?" (set for sale near me).

We just installed suspension from TRD offroad (I think it was a 2023) on my nephew's 4th gen. We did the UCAs, and all springs and shocks... nephew says it leveled the truck better and is driving nice... my buddy gave us the take offs, so the price was right, for sure... there was nothing special about doing the install, things just bolted right on... you may have to shave down some bushings, but it was a straight up replacement with no customizations for us...

We did gave to pull the battery to do the driver side UCA and the passenger side had some maneuvering and pipe moving to get around the radiator lines.

5th gen take offs bolt right on.

Only thing you’ll need to do is shave about a mm off the lower shock mount bushing. The lower shock mount on the 5th gen UCA is slightly wider. You’ll need an angle grinder and 2 minutes.

Granted that ride and handling preferences are subjective but I had both of those setups at various times before going Eibach all around. My driving split is about the same as yours and I would recommend either 4600s or TRD OR takeoffs without hesitation assuming the takeoffs have reasonably low mileage (<5K miles imo). There's a lot of info in the suspension post linked in my sig.

Bilstein 5100s may be firmer than you need b/c they're designed for trucks with extra weight such as custom bumpers, winches, etc., so they're stiff on a stock vehicle. The 4600s are for stock weight trucks so it shouldn't be an issue.

Have you considered any other suspension setups or brands for your 2008 SR5 V6, or are you leaning towards the Bilstein 4600s or TRD takeoffs based on the recommendations?

I've had 5100's on my 2007 for 20k miles and they have been amazing for 90% on road and a weeks light medium off roading in Moab. No spring changes just had the front adjusted to level out. For the price they are great and are holding up with no issues. I paid $359 shipped from Amazon back in 2019.

Bilstein 5100/4600 will suit you very well, since they are wonderful on road. 5100s will be a little bit stiffer than 4600s as they account for lifted applications. However, both are tuned for factory spring rate and you can lift the front a tiny bit with 5100s (using 2nd notch from the bottom). This actually makes your front CV axles more level, because the stock CV axles are tilted upwards. IMO 4th gen has too much forward rake in stock form.

I've been running 5100s for half a year now, absolutely nothing to complain. The only way I can describe their ride, is that they somehow ride like a German car: plush at bumps while being tight and maneuverable at speed. Don't expect them to absorb jumps offroad though, they're just tiny 2.0 inch shocks.
