Need Advice on Purchasing a 4Runner

I started this thread in the General Discussion forum but it was recommended to move it to the 4th Gen forum.

I am looking at purchasing a 4Runner, this will be my first 4Runner and I have admired them and appreciated them for years. I am looking at getting a used or certified pre between 2006 and 2009. Any advice on what I should be looking for? What to stay away from? I am leaning towards the Sport Edition but I am not sure what the major difference are between SR5 and Sport. Any info and advice would be greatly appreciated. I was looking at American trucks like Ford, Jeep, etc... and although I can save some money buying American I am not too impressed with what I have seen and read, very plasticy (if that's even a word) comes to mind.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

-i strongly recommend the v8

-get a pre purchase inspection and ask them to do a paint analysis with a depth gauge

-where you save money, you will lose money by buying american (4r's maintain their value much better and for good reason)

good luck bud

Thanks for the info, the website Top4Runner has a lot of good information.

Rok, I think the V8 is going to be outside my price range and I am not too crazy about the V8 4WD being strictly a full-time system. I prefer to have the multi-mode selectable system that's offered in the V6. But the V8 engine would be NICE!!!
