Interesting. It looks like you guys sre all running the v6, what advantage and/or disadvantage would it have for s v8 model? Sorry, I just don't know what differences there are between the two.

I guess that sums it up well! I'll take a few minutes and give this mod a try tomorrow.

the v8 can haul a$$
95-110mph is comfortable for the v8
the v6 is struggling
however as a very smart person pointed out
the v6 engine can be found in landcruisers overseas, and it does just fine.

I've hit 114mph with 550rpm left to redline. I just let up because I hear speeding 50mph over the speed limit is bad, but I'm not buying it lol

I do know about the power difference between the V6 & V8 which is whi I drive a V8! I was wondering how this mod differed between the two when active vs in nanny mode. Regardless, I'll find out soon enough since I did the mod. It works as advertised and is about the easiest mod around.

So today on the trip woth a few T4R.org members up in the Tahoe area I was really impressed with my 4Runner's V8. A lifted 1st & 3rd gen had gotten stuck in the snow, the 3rd gen dug himself him trying to pull out the 1st gen that was hopelessly dug in.
So I made a smart alec remark, "hey you guys need the raw power of a V8? Hell don't even bother unhooking from the other 4Runner!" Threw it in 4Lo for some extra grunt, got some speed and "SNAP!" Pulled both 4Runners free from the snow in one go. I honestly did not think I was going to have enough traction and strength to pull the 3rd gen (off center to my passenger side) which was still connected to the 1st gen (angled and strapped to the 3rd gen on my driver's side.) all in one go.
VSC, ABS, and ATRAC were a lil excited by the fun, but otherwise was an impressive pull.
Side note- wear your seatbelt, my forehead hurts still from meeting my visor when the strap went taut! LOL

Yes. Short version: put a switch in the white/black wire.

im new to t4r's .. i just picked up my 07 sr5 4x4 v6... and i love it.. i went 4wheelin over the weekend to test its performance.. i was very impressed at its capability in stock form with stock tires..
i did notice the (atrac i believe) engage while climbing some pretty mean hills, or was that the vsc.. im still confused on the two.. i also noticed the loss of power while runnin thru some sand beds.. which i didnt really like..
how do these mods make things better and are they really needed.. ??

The trac off mod makes it so your truck won't cut your power when your tires slip
