As long as one goes to the negative and one goes to the positive you should be ok!

i want to do this mod, but have a question... when i pull the lower part of my driver side dash panel, just behind where my center diff lock button is and behind the other 3 blank places for switches i've got two taped up factory plugs for something? it's directly behind where those factory cut out holes are for switches...? does anybody know what they are for?

i'm just curious if these might have anything to do with TRAC or something. i know i've seen other t4r's and the factory TRAC button is directly to the right of the center diff button, which is right where these seem to want to be mounted?

Disable VSC, TRAC, and ABS without damaging factory wiring
One might be trac and one might be 115A power

yea the diagram of "controls" in the owners manual labels the 3 buttons from the left as "aux power" "center diff lock" and "TRAC" and leaves the 4th hole blank. but if my truck didn't come with a "TRAC" button, (i have an SR5) would everything still already be wired in from the factory so that all i have to do is find and simply plug in a "TRAC" button? also would this "TRAC" button disengage my VCS and TRAC?

I think so! FJ's are like that with the ATRAC. Just buy the button and rock n' roll

God I hope it's that simple for me, but has anyone else ever seen a 4runner come with those already back there? I have a 2004 V6 SR5 4WD.

quick question here...someone may know...if i was to completely remove these system, ABS, TRAC, and VSC will the truck still start? I have converted to power steering hydroboost and completely changed my brakes. I have taken the wireloom apart and would like to remove the VSC computer altogether and all the wiring that goes with it. But i wanna make sure when i put my truck back together it will still run. BTW its a 2003 1gr 2wd

So with your mod described here... If I'm following correctly... You just splice a 2 prong "on/off" switch into the top (white-black striped wire) and then rock and roll good to go? No funky grounding or anything?

Hmmm ..... I've done this and nothing is happening. Hell I can completely unplug the whole thing and nothing happens. I've got a 2004 SR5 V6. Are they different or something?

PMFG, I had the same problem when I did this mod. Before I did the mod I to completely removed this plug and noticed nothing happened, but it works when you unplug the connector above this that has three wires (black, red, and white I believe). These 3 wires run from the brake fluid reservoir connector to the skid control unit under the driver side dash behind the fuse block. I cut the red wire which is the ground (I believe would need to check schematic) and put a switch from there as I did not want to run a wire through the firewall. Here is the link to when I did mine.

Ok, so you're saying to just splice the two prong connector into this red wire coming out of the plug with 3 wires right by this? Can you take a picture of the one you tapped into?

I just did the 12v constant power mod last night and found the same thing. So I called Toyota today and the person I talked to siad that if I don't have switch then my 4runner doesnt have the feature. However I just got my tr4 and haven't had the chance to put it in the dirt to see what happens when I break the tires loose.
So my question to the guru of this mod is... Does my tr4 have the VSC,TRAC options even though I have no switchs for them?
