I bought a 2008 Limited V8 4WD in Nautical Blue with 158k miles for $9000 last month. Very minor surface rust. New Michelin tires. Bought from a private seller in Texas

I, too, paid the "California tax". My 2005 v8 with ~150K was $13,500 out the door. Still happy with my purchase

I paid $14500 for a 2005 Sport V8 4x4, with 177,000mi.

That's high at first glance, but it has the following mods installed only 4 months / 4000mi ago:
  • Lifted 4in with Yotamafia Bilstein 6112/5160 combo
  • Rear coils - OME 895 medium duty
  • SPC adjustable upper control arms
  • Rims = Method 312
  • Tires = Falken WILDPEAK M/T01 LT285/70R17/ 113Q

The mods + labor was $5600. And the mechanic that did a pre-purchase inspection on it confirmed the quality and condition of these components. Other aspects of the inspection also came back extremely clean.

All in all, without considering the mods (which I probably would have eventually gotten something similar), I paid $9000 for a very clean 2005 V8 at 177,000 miles.

I think I did okay, especially considering the California tax :-)

5k Canadian (4k USD) for a 2003 V8 limited with 300k km's. Had do do the CV's, Front Shocks, Timing belt and valve cover gasket. Drove it across the country this summer and loved it.

Just bought a 2005 Sport Edition with V8 and 160k. Lived in Nevada from new until 2018 so the frame is immaculate. 5th gen snowflake rims with new Falken Wildpeaks. Paid $9000

Bought a 2008 SR5 2WD with 245K miles from a relative a couple years ago for $4800. Needs new rear bumper from minor fender bender, paint is shot on roof, hood, and front bumper from highway driving and sun damage. Driver's side carpet is torn from them driving in high heels. They rode this car hard for 10 years using it for work as a sales rep. I originally bought the car because I needed one and not because I knew anything about 4Runners. But after driving it for two years (and now sitting at 265K) I've fallen in love with it and am slowly trying to return it to it's former glory.

Still not sure whether I got a good deal or not. It still needs a couple thousand to get it squared away and if I could rewind time I probably would've just bought a better condition 4Runner for a few more thousand. But hindsight is 20/20.

I just purchased my fourth 4Runner, a 2007 Limited V8 with 172k miles. 3 previous owners, no accidents, 40 service records on the CarFax report. Dealer was asking $12,995. After a little negotiation I paid $10,869 plus 7.25% tax and $285 Doc and license fee. Not a spec of rust on the body. Rear bumper has been airbrushed on the corner. Took it to a mechanic friend who put it up on the rack to check the undercarriage for the notorious frame rust issue, worn bushings and to look for fluid leaks. All looked great. He was impressed! I am happy with my purchase. Needs new headlights and the TPMS light is on all the time although all 4 tires are at 32lbs. Probably a bad sensor or perhaps the spare tire is low?

Yup, if the spare is fine it's likely a sensor(s). I recently replaced all five of mine (13 years old) after Discount Tire tried intermingling OEM and their TPMS sensors to no avail - they refuse to work together and the only solve was going all OEM.

You can usually find the Denso sensors for $35ish on amazon.

I didn't realize quite the extent of the deal I got. in 2012, bought a 2004 Limited with 121k for $8500+tax/fees

It needed a timing belt, so +$1000.

Since, the only major maintenance has been front frozen calipers, tires twice, AC Compressor, 1 CV Axle, and 1 wheel bearing. Still rolling on what I think is the stock Xreas system with no leaks.

I'm having to do the actuator seal next week, which will be the largest project to date.

Just checked the spare and it is at 35#. Thanks for the advice on the Denso sensors. I watched a YouTube video where a guy found a way to bypass the TPMS system in 3 minutes. The TPMS module is behind the glovebox. You run a jumper wire from one side of the harness to the other. Voila! No more TPMS light. You’d just have to remember to check your tire’s pressure periodically....like back in the day. LOL!

Pretty much the same here
I picked up a limited 03 v8 with 82k in 2013 for $9500k
I had to do the timing belt, water pump for $850 @ 100k
At 200k I had to do a alternator
Been through many calipers and rotors but that's nothing new
Now the radiator support is just about gone and the frame is going
I'm going to weld in some support to buy another year or so

Looking at a 09 SR5, 206K, very clean, 2WD, well maintained, 1 owner. They asking 10,900.
I’ve always wanted one to take my 3yr old camping. It won’t be used rough so don’t need 4wd.
Is that a good price or what would y’all pay.
