Toyota Certified Pre Owned T4R prices above list and documentation.

Toyota Certified Pre Owned T4R prices above list and documentation.

I feel, all services should be included in the list price on a Certified T4R vs above and undocumented.

1. Were the 160 inspections, results, service on your Pre Owned Certified T4R shared w/o a request?

2. Were you charged above the list price what was needed to Certify the T4R, including inspection fees?

3. Tax, Title, license (TTL) above list is what I expected and extended warranty is what I stood for. jow

Whats your question here? Services are never free even if you buy a BMW you are paying for it. Ask for the report if you dont they arent obligated to give it to you. Prices are a starting point for negotiation.

My questions are related to standard procedures when purchasing a Certified Pre Owned T4R.

1. Services should be included in the list price vs tacking 6,500.00 above the posted list cost.

2. Provide the invoice as a receipt showing the services and items you are charging for, “vs Talk”!

3. I will not pay for a service there is no proof and record of vs you saying you undercoated the T4R.

4. I keep my cars forever and do all of my routine services to avoid salesmen and questions on quality maintenance and repairs.

5. I know there are some honest salesmen and quality work out there and I have no problems paying for honest sales and service. jow

I remember your original post. Were you charged extra for something that you think you shouldn't have been? Just trying to understand your question here.

What did they charge you $6500 for?

They attempted to charge for a verbal list of items above the listed price. I could have gone along with TTL, Certification fee (500.00 that goes to Toyota) and cost of the extended warranty package. They mentioned services that I had no proof had been performed. Even though I d/n pay above my listed items, I filed a complaint with Toyota due to the procedures. The Service Manager called and forwarded an invoice list of work that was needed to qualify the T4R as Certified. What he sent me I could see was done. I still say it should have been included in the list price and the Service Manager basically agreed (possibly I would have passed). Most of all, was how the Sales Manager tried to work me with no proof of service. Finally, I was told that services/repairs above list is an extra profit. Why would the List Price not include the actual cost and services to the product?

Bottom Line! One comment was, I should have left running but I was too tired to run (LOL) after 4 mo of looking for a Certified T4R due to my totaled 1993 Ford Explorer. jow

Even if they attempt to charge $50 or $5000 over list price, it's still about negotiation. For example if you have a price in mind that you want to pay, say $20,000, it doesn't matter what they try to add on, that is your price and now it is about negotiation -certified or not.

As far as running: I don't think that would have been necessary. I would have just made an offer and started the negotiation process. If it didn't work out I would have left.

Actually, it sounds like you have enough mechanical knowledge to have confidently bought privately.
You probably would have saved thousands!

Carl G, A few of the services above the list price they wanted to charge me for:
1. Air, Oil & filters change
2. Re-surface front disc & new pads
3. 160 point inspection
4. detailing & chipped paint repairs
5. 4 new tires & balancing
6. 1,600.00 worth to get the T4R Certified.

The service manager made a good point in saying their list price should have included all of their service charges and profit above their purchase price. This was what I thought was a reputably Dealership, not a Flea Market. Even at a Flea Market, I respect a Man’s price and know my price from research. I’m Not About Haggling vs Honesty! I feel I got an honest deal since they sold me the T4R w/o the extra charges. Have A Good Day! jow

There list price should have had those cost built in I would never agree to pay anything more then list in the first place. I have a hard time believing that the dealer tried to pass these cost to you on top of the list price sorry!

I know what you mean. I got my 4R certified as well and while the benefits are nice, I didn't get anything as far as what they did either. On the other hand, we have a Volvo XC90 Sport that is also certified and they gave us a HUGE list of what they did and the actual cost of what they did, which totaled close to $6,500. They do new tires, rotors, brakes, plugs, filters, fluids, you name it. But, they also give you a 100K mile bumper to bumper warranty with it and for the 3rd or 4th year in a row that program was named best in America.

The Toyota Certified program has some nice features, but in my opinion, it's not worth close to $6,500, that's a screw job.
