We have 2 golden retrievers each about 50#s. This doesn't apply to your situation, but others might find it interesting.

When we shopped for a new vehicle we needed one that would handle both dogs each in separate crates AND be able to tow our 3,000# boat the 225 miles to our friend's cabin. We needed the second row to fold flat to accommodate the crates and whatever gear we could cram in. The 4th gen 4Runner second row seat does not fold entirely flat, but flatter than the others we looked at with body on frame. Works for us, and man it tows nice!

I haul 2 my 2 Pits around everywhere, they usually ride in the backseat, not the far back, but there's plenty of room regardless

Liner?

Where did you find the image of the liner/barrier combo? Is there any way I can buy all of this as a set. I just bought a 2008 4runner and have two <2 year old pits, so I'm affraid of them scratching up the back of my new ride. Any help on getting that liner would be much appreciated!

g8r4runner: thanks for the answer, that was exactly what i was after. as a matter of fact, we have a doxie as well, so it applies.

03blkrunner: i found this (photo attached ) online, will try and get manufacturer if interested, a kit for dog liners. you can also get vinyl to even put on the headliner so that hair doesnt adhere to the headliner, i have hair problems all the time....

I'd like to get my hands on a kit like that too. I regularly travel with my 160 lb Newfoundland dog, and the slobber clean up is timely indeed!

I have a 100lb chocolate lab, i bought my truck for him solely for the back seats, with them folded forward it provides the perfect area for him in the back seat!

I had a 2005 Pilot and the 3rd row area is larger in the Pilot then the 4Runner. However the 4Runner has the roll down rear window which the dogs LOVE. Plus the cracks for the 3rd row seats in the Pilot would get really messy with dogs in the back.

I don't regret going from the Pilot to the 4Runner one bit. The Pilot definitely has better ergonomics and some other benefits but I never really liked it. It was an appliance that I liked as much as my washing machine. The 4Runner is my truck and I freakin' love it. So much I keep spending more and more money on it.

Installing my Spidertraxx wheel spacers today. Get the 4Runner, you'll never look back.
