Unhappy 4Runner Delayed Acceleration Problem

Anyone have a DELAYED ACCELERATION problem with their 4th Gen 4Runner?
My 2006 4Runner SR5 has started pausing on take off - engine will not rev, tach does not move, etc. After a long pause (5 sec+) it will start to pick up speed slowly and then runs / drives normally. There is no sudden engagement or any tranny noise, etc of any kind. Very smooth (& slow) take off once it finally engages. This is very dangerous when pulling out into traffic!! I almost got ran over today. Anyone with a similar issue?!?!?!?!?

Sounds like the traction control system. If tires start to spin the engine cuts power. I just got my 4Runner a few weeks ago and I really do not like this system.

You may be right - driving conditions are snowy.

Your first step is going to be to disable the VSC and see if it still occurs.

Neighbor had a similar issue on an 04 sienna, turned out to be a steering wheel sensor $750.00 job. Apparently it was sensing the car was slipping and until the yaw and steering wheel sensor were in sync it registered a skid and cut the throttle.

As long as the conditions are slick, try locking the center diff (which will turn off VSC) & see if that helps.
Or along with MICA4Rs issues maybe a "zero point calibration" needs to be done for the yaw sensor.
