fantastic post, still relevant and helpful all these years later, just less expensive now. mirror for me was 50 bucks on ebay, had to splice some 14 gauge wire to cover the difference as the mirror wires were to short. my wiring job is not as pretty as this post's but (fingers crossed) my wiring seems safe. funny thing, I buttoned everything up, turned the ignition on, and the mirror did not light up. I panicked and started wiggling things around, turns out, I did not plug the mirror back in after removing it to make working around the wires easier! phew! thanks for the detailed write-up. Will
