Preference? 2009 Sport OR 2009 Trail Edition
Wondering which one would folks prefer and why?

I focused my efforts on getting a TE because of the rear locker, water resistant seats, and ATRAC switch...essentially all the 4x4 goodies of an FJ with the space and refinement of a 4runner. It also came with factory Bilsteins which was kind of a bonus b/c I decided to keep them when I lifted it (I will replace them with something more capable later). I managed to get my truck "new" from the dealer with 12k on the odo so it came with the original window sticker. I think the entire TE package, which also includes more cosmetic stuff like color matched trim pieces and leather steering wheel, was only a $2500 option on SR5's; a pretty screamin deal IMHO. Also, its kinda cool having a truck that is pretty rare, I've never seen another in person.

As one of the few '09 TE owners, I liked the interior--seat fabric and color--as well as the uniqueness of the Trail Edition badging. And, it was sitting on the lot when I was ready to buy (just before the increase in Vehicle License Fee (VLF) and Sales Tax). So far, mine is stock, with 22K miles. .

I gotta be the first to vote for the Sport Edition. I like my V8, XREAS and the hood scoop.

I love my hood scoop, but I'd trade it for a rear locker.

I'm with you there, I love the all-time 4WD and the torque I get from the V8, Trail Edition is sexy though.

I'd say depends on what you are gonna do. If you plan on wheeling it then go for the TE with the locker. If not then I'd go for the sport purely for the looks.

I would def like to have the larger brakes and heated mirrors found on the SE but I may try to retrofit these components down the road at some point. Anyone ever add heated mirrors?
