Will do. Good news is I can test it before cutting things up, so should be easy to find out.

Yep, you guys were right, driver's side ABS wire was almost completely torn apart. Both wires were torn, so I replaced about a 4" section and it worked like a charm. Thanks!

That's what I like about this forum - the amount of collective knowledge and the willingness to share!
ARK_SWAMP_RIDER, I'm glad it was an easy fix for you.

this happened to me in my old runner. i just unplugged and re plugged the wire connecting to the brake control in the engine bay. that fixed it for good. seemed to be coming loose. later on i found out if you unplug that you can really burn some rubber hehe
glad you got it fixed.

Similar Problem
I am new to this forum and came across this thread while googling my problem with my 04 4runner. I have had a miss in one cylinder for a couple of days, similar to one on my tacoma that plugs and wires fixed. While in park,I reved the motor to clear the miss, something that has worked for the last few days and the miss went away but my check engine light came on along with a VSC trac and VSC off lights. I expect that a similar fix as with my tacoma will fix the check engine light but what about the VSC trac and VSC off. I was not moving at all when these came on as I reved the motor in park.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I know this is an older thread, but my brother is going to remove the XREAS from my 07 4runner sport and replace with FJ Cruiser springs/Billstein 5100's in his shop. He's the best mechanic I know so I have no worries BUT should we unhook the ABS connector to make sure a tear of the wire does not happen? Or, just be really careful not to overstress the wire? I had a front half-shaft replaced a while back with no problems so my local mechanic must have been careful with the ABS wire.
Thanks!!

You can remove the line/bracket from the upper control arm, it's just one bolt. With this done, there's enough slack to move the line out of the way, and since it's disconnected, you should have any issues with stressing it.

I put in Billstein 5100, OMES 895s and CVJ axles. Now my VSC Trac/off and ABS lights are on. Hope I can find the tear. I was pretty rough doing the replacement. Thanks for posting this info!

Is replacing the sensor wire pretty straight forward?
I'm getting the "VSC Off" light blinking, Traction Control light and CEL, but no ABS light. I must have over stretched it putting new springs and shocks on the rear.
Thanks!

Well... it turns out my issue was gas cap related. I stopped by O'Reilly's to have the codes read and cleared. I still can't believe that I swapped out the springs & shocks and the warning lights are related to the gas cap. Odd timing. The gas cap issue makes sense only because our last fill-up was in Oregon, where you can't pump your own gas!

I have the same lights on mine! I tried a zero-point calibration, but the vsc and abs lights blink back and forth and if i start it again they come back as they were before. Am I just doing the calibration wrong, or is the actual abs wire damaged?
I remember reading somewhere depending on how it flashes, it tells you which side is damaged. Anyone have an idea where that information is?
