Plugged my new trailer into 4R and brake lights/turn signals don't work

When I turn on my headlights, the lights work on the trailer, but when I turn on turn signal or apply brakes...neither works. I don't get it. I simply plugged in the 7 prong outlet into my 4R and it doesn't seem to be working.

Any help would be great...Thanks

Do the 7 point plugins ever fail? My 4Runner is 7 years old and hasn't done a ton of towing, so maybe the plugin has gone bad.

Is there a fuse in the 4Runner that could go, that would prevent trailer brakes and turn signals to not work?

Thanks.

I know that some of the 3rd gens had bad converters for the lights. Have you checked to confirm voltage on each contact; running lights, each turn signal, brake....?
