You might be able to find a Scion HU with an aux input on ebay for cheap -- should swap right out (I think).

does this adapter work with the JBL system aswell? or can you get one? looked into installing a new touchscreen headunit, 450 for the unit, and then plus plus plus over $1000....not a chance.

I ended up buying a new CD player... I bought the most expensive tape and radio adapters I could find ($90 Monster) and it was terrible. I finally broke down and got a head unit that would connect directly via USB.

I've heard good things about most of the adapters in the threads Chaz posted.

K-ARL - I'm not sure which adapter you're referring to but there are several adapters that work with the JBL system. USA-Spec, Dice, and Vaistech (and others) have adapters that are compatible with JBL.

USA Spec all the way. I've installed four of them in four different toyota models. Sounds like a CD and charges your phone at the same time. Also works perfect with iPad too, even charges it while watching a movie.

Has a 2nd input for XM or other device.

Fairly easy install in a 4runner. Couldn't have an iPhone without it frankly.

Check out the VAIS. They are doing some amazing things in their new units.

I bought a new headunit specifically cause I wanted to paly my ipod and control it thru the headunit. It's awesome. It's more than $70 but look around and find a radio that is not a BIG touchscreen and you can alot of money!

I would love to get one of those big DVD,CD,Blueray headunits but in time.

Good luck!

I just installed the above unit in my 04 non jbl 4runner. (purchased from ebay about $78.00)

I am lovin' it. I can play music from my mp3 player, cell phone or ipod.

I have pandora and slacker radio installed on my cell and a few radio stations that are not in my area. I really like a certain station from Atlanta, GA and then have an app. So I can now get it in my car. I could have used this a few weeks ago on my drive from Louisiana to Charleston, SC.

GTA Car Kit FTW

Look u GTA car kits for an easy installation.. and it works great. There is a video installation tutorial that gives you step by step instructions on how to get the job done. VERY easy. took me 20 minutes and i am by no means a mechanic of any kind!

Is this still the best way to get bluetooth on your 03 4Runner besides getting a new system?

Thanks
