P0430

I've searched but couldn't find a possible answer. I had P0430 & the VSC TRAC lights on several months ago. I replaced the driver's side O2 sensor (before cat). The lights stayed off for those months until last week when the cel came on. I scanned & gave me the P0430 again. Should I replaced sensor 2? Thanks for all input.

I'm having a similar issue and the only thing that i've turned up is a failing cat. I went to custom muffler because my post cat failed a long time ago and I thought the codes were due to that but as per the tech at the shop, a P0430 is a precat failure and it would be extremely expensive to replace.

I am in California & can't imagine the cost of a new cat. Have you resolved your issue?

If you take it to custom muffler or something they can replace it but to answer your question. No, I haven't fixed the code. I think I might just do an entirely new exhaust from the headers.

Are you guys sure the P0430 is precat? I had that code on my old Mustang (no cats). The rear o2's were getting the same reading as the fronts, thus throwing the code. I found a very cheap and easy fix (for the light). If it's the same code as mine (my was the rear sensors), it'll work.

What is the cheap fix? I'll try it and see if it fixes it.

I have the same issue and like you I could not find much on this site about it.

But I thought a P0430 was a post cat code.........Bank 2 Sensor 2. Meaning O2 sensor on drives side after the cat.

I ordered a new O2 sensor from ebay and should be getting it Monday. I am hoping that will fix my problem.

I heard an O2 sensor's life is about 100K I have 114k on my 4rnr.

The "fix" I speak of does nothing but get the engine light to turn off, it does nothing to actually "fix" the problem, just wanted to clarify that. Here's a link showing how. I believe the O2 sensors are all the same size, so the same non-fouler should work. I picked mine up at Advance Auto Parts, but most parts stores should have them.

So I got my new O2 senor Monday and installed it that day. It was very easy. I got the senor socket from an auto parts store on loan although they charged me $27.00 up front. They will refund that.

I changed the senors and have driven nearly 50miles today and the CEL is gone no problems. I think that fixed my problem.

Try unhooking the positive on the battery. That code came up on my sister's 4Runner also.
