Much too much wasted space in that garage. All garage space should be utilized.
In my garage, amongst many other purposes, I store inventory for an internet-based business. As you face the pic, from the right side of the garage door, there is an additional 9' of space, which in addition to 2' of walkway next to the runner, is completely and efficiently utilized in storage of tools and supplies on shelves. In that area, there is also a lawn mower, other trimming equipment, a floor jack, and roll-around tool chests. (Note: There is furniture stored in the garage temporarily while we do some major remodeling of parts of the house).
Behind the 4Runner is a workbench and cabinets with a walkway in front of them, running the full width of the garage.
Notice even the overhead space above the runner is utilized, starting 2" above the 4Runner roof rack, there are two cable-supported racks which easily raise and lower using either a twist handle, or my Makita drill-driver.
This is what a space-efficient garage should look like.
