Easiest way to level front and do new front struts
I have a front strut thats leaking so I'd like to replace both fronts.
I'd also like to level the front at the same time.
Is there any place that sells pre-assembled new front struts (spacers?) and spring sets that will level the front so I wont have to mess with a spring compressor?
So far I've only seen 3" lift kits pre-assembled and as my rig is about 80% around town driving I dont want or need that.
I'd like to get Bilsteins if possible as I've used those in a few of my other cars in the past and loved the ride.
Otherwise I guess I'll just get a spacer and new struts and rent a compressor.
I just though it would be nice to get it as a pre-assembled unit if possible.

Best way to level the front and upgrade your suspension (on a budget) is to do the FJC/5100 swap like I did. I did front and rear for under $500. The Bilstein 5100's are awesome and have 4 settings for the front lift. I have it set on the 3rd setting (1.75) and with the FJ coils lifted the front 2".
As far as buying them already assembled, not sure about that. But it's super easy to take the shock assembly/coil over apart and put back together. Air tools are your friend! It took me and a buddy approx 4 hrs for the entire suspension. Good luck on your mod, hope you find what fits.

I agree with the above, ithat setup is very popular here. If you are set on an asssembled strut, Rancho makes one called the QuickLift. Don't know much about them, but that's the only one I've seen. Also, I'm assuming you have xreas, and if so you'll need to replace all four shocks, not just the fronts.

ducman, these come preassembled for 3, but if u call them, maybe they can set it lower for u. Toytec/Bilstein height adjustable coilovers **SALE PRICE** - Toytec Lifts: Toyota Lift Kits: FJ Cruiser Lift Kits, Tacoma Lift Kits, Tundra Lift Kits, 4 Runner Lift Kits, Sequoia Lift Kits, Toyota Truck Lift Kits u could also get the coilovers that adj. by the wrench & crank em down when at full droop, its not easy but can be done.

Thanks for the replies, no Xreas here..
I'm leaning towards just getting a pair of Bilstein struts and a 1" toytech spacer at the moment since I'd like to keep costs down and rent a compressor.
From the before and after pictures I've seen I think a 1" boost up front is what I'm looking for.

Get the 5100s and there is no need for a spacer. They are adjustable with settings for .85 and 1.75, either of those would do well depending on the look you want.

I need new front shocks.
Keep us posted.
I could probably get the struts out but I do not have the guts to fool with a spring compressor.
(knowing my limitations coupled with my run of bad luck lately)

Can you change the perch setting on the 5100 with the stock T4R springs?

Yes you can. Settings on them are 0, 0.85, 1.75, and 2.5 inches of lift, that is with stock coils.

Atlanta, maybe you can get a shop to that particular step for you?

Last question, which perch will get it most level with the rear?
And thanks for info!

If you're doing the 5100's only and reusing stock springs, I'd probably use the 3rd notch, but that's just my opinion. You can measure the height from the fender to the ground front/rear and see for yourself. Typically it's around 2". 1.75" will make it level, although some prefer to use the .85 setting to allow for the rear to sag when loaded down and still look level

5100s
Mine should be here this weekend... not sure if I'll have time to get them installed right away though.
I'm leaning towards doing the .85" setting but I'm also considering the 1.75" setting... I'm running 265 tires now but will be stepping up to 270s when these wear out. I'm going to be sticking with stock springs.
