Poll: Change in the Forum
Hey all,
After discussing with Gatorgreg, we are contemplating modifying this forum to become 1/2 4runner and 1/2 G-wagen. This forum will have 2 General Discussions (and 2 of each other sections) for each vehicle.
I am in need of a forum for the small amount G-wagen owners. We have no home currently. This forum is still small enough for both worlds to live peacefully together.
What do you guys think??
Thai.

Thai, I don't see any issue with it. We could start by including a section for G-wagen just like we have for the Lexus GX470 and add sections as demand grows.
Maybe we can convert a few of the G-wager'eers away from the dark side.

not that i have anything against g-wagon owners.
i just feel that g-wagon and 4runners are like apples and oranges. i would agree if it were GX and 4runners, or tacoma and 4runners. I think throwing a totally different truck into the mix will really confuse things. especially when newbs join the forum, and try to search things.

....and I agree with Trance too. Maybe if we could exclude it from the search feature.
Ultimately I would say no, but Thai started this forum (I believe), and has contributed a ton, so if he needs some space for his G-wagon buds, then I think it is OK. Chances are that if it gets a lot of action, then he or someone else will eventually start a completely new forum. Goodluck with whatever you choose.
I vote yes and no...effectively not voting. Sorry.

As long as they can be seperated completely I see no issues. But it might cause some cross posting. WIth the GX it is not an issue as the 4R and GX do share lot and can be leveraged.
So G-posts for maintenance etc needs to belong in a completely different section it should be fine.
At least we can then poke with fun at them all the time
Teh issue will be noobs psoting in the wrong area and searching there, etc. Also cross trolling from one section ot the other can create issues.

Due to financial constraints (GG's pockets are not deep enough), we may have to take out many subforums to accomodate the new G-wagen subforums.

That contributes to my worries that this change will have a negative effect on the quality of this forum for 4runner owners.

No problem here but I think you guys should bring the GX470 up to the top of the page and put it with the 4th and 3rd Gens, down on the bottom it's easily missed and since the 4th Gen and GX share powertrains, you know plus Im always on clublexus in the GX section mentioning this place and sometimes I forget it's down their
As for the G-Wagon, I take it everything will be kept seperate, all different subforums.
Odd question, with your forum provider, you have t4r.org & the full name.org would it be G-wagon.org and they would be sent here, how many url can you have, I take it the site may have to change slightly.

Would be really ironic if the change to this forum was timed exactly with the fall of Toyota or maybe MB quality would improve

The only concern that I have is that I don't want to be looked down on because I only drive a $40,000 4Runner . I don't see a problem with creating a seperate section for the G-wagon guys (and girls). Everyone needs a place to go to get info, vent, and socialize so I think it's a good idea. As long as the search can be seperated like Trance said, or that could get very confusing.

I agree with both of these notions. The GX section could definetly be more visible, that would be nice.
Also, as long as the G-Wagen info was kept seperate from the 4Runner info, it doesn't sound like a problem

Don't worry about that, we can laugh at them when their Trucks are in the shop and they have C Class hatchback as loaners and I think all 4Runner owners should have the power to ban G owners if their snoottyness gets out of control

...checks watch to see what time it is. If your next post says this forum is going down, I'm not falling for it. I still drive my truck in circles backwards to see if I can get the odometer to go back.
