Weekend Mods and Plasti-dip/spray paint...
Well Saturday 10/1 was a T4R mod day again.
1. Plasti Dip wheels
2. Paint wheels with Krylon Hammered finish Grey
3. Fog light mods
4. Full time 12v cig lighter
5. Key reminder dissable
6. Maplight mod
7. Footwell lighting
8. VSC mod
9. Install 3 switches
everything went great execpt for the jack stand slipping before any pressure on it and cutting the finger, which of course was at the beggining of day. Overall happy with the plasti/painted wheels.
p.s. the last two pics of wheels, that is not paint around the rims, just didnt get tire black there from wheeling last weekend.
Wheels turned out very good, I think they will hold up nicely. The Hammered spray paint finish is a matte finish, really nice. time will tell on how long it lasts..
Enjoy pics.. Thanks Gaterose for the color idea, I like it..

Love the grey. Where did you get the paint at and how much did you use?

Thanks guys.
the plasti-diping and painting cost less than $30. Used 2.5 cans of plasti-dip. 1 can of Krylon Hammered grey/silver. Got all at Home depot.
I really hope the paint and plasti hold up well. If they dont, atleast im not out too much..
If anyone wants to try it, I suggest practicing on the spare, I did, with three different colors, the hammered stuff was best. There is also a hammered bronze color, I really wanted to try that, and I might just do that down the road.

Great job! Wheels look fantastic! So you used the Plasti-Dip as a base coat... clever way to be able to go with whatever color you want and still have it be removable! That may turn out to be pretty durable with a hard "shell" as a top coat. Keep us posted!

Thanks, its funny, I thought of this a month or so ago when I had a thread about wheels. A few people stated i should plasti dip and others said powdercoat/paint. Then I had an AHHA moment. Do both and remove later. I wanted to share my idea when i thought of it, but I didnt want others to beat me to it lol.

Dam, I had the same idea and you beat me to it. No worries, at least now I know it works and looks GREAT! I'm trying to find a graphite color for mine since that would likely look better with my Driftwood Pearl, any suggestions?

That looks really good! When I had plasti-dip on my wheels, I wished it had been more gray than black. Now I know that would've been possible haha.
Off topic - how do you like the Falken tires?

Nice Job. I love that color. Thats what color I had originally planned to paint my SE 17s but then I end up getting my current wheels.
I read about the plasti-dip as a base coat a while back over on the G35 forums (they're just as crazy, if not crazier, about plasti-dip) but just never got around to trying it out. If i remember correctly, there were several who mentioned it had held up for 1 yr + and still looked good. Great mod though...truck looks great!

Woah, excellent idea! My rig is Driftwood Pearl with blacked-out headlights, front grill, emblems, door handles and the piece above the rear license plate. I've been considering plasti-dipping the wheels, but wasn't sure if it'd be black overkill. But hmmm, they might look pretty sharp if they were a grey color or something....
I guess I'll be modding this weekend...after the OU/TX game, of course.
