Aftermarket CD player/ steering wheel controls ?

I bought my 04 runner with a aftermarket CD deck already installed. I noticed that the volume controls on the steering wheel are non responsive; is this because the installer missed the step of re wiring that feature, or are the steering wheel volume controls only designed to work with the stock deck?

Has anyone else ran into this issue? If so, is there a solution to making the SW controls work with the AM deck?

Thanks!!

Nah. You can use the steering controls. You need something like this:

PAC SWI-JACK Steering wheel control interface for Alpine, Clarion, JVC, and Kenwood at Crutchfield.com

Thank you for the link, that was helpful.
I might research some alternative brands (if there are any) do to some repeated dissatisfied customer reviews (particularly about the lag/delay time between pushing the button and volume response time "constant battle of getting the volume just right"). At least all the consumers of this product can agree that it does work!! I'm not sure if it's worth my 65 bucks either. Well now I know the option is out there if I really want it!

Where is the plug located that you connect the white wire and resistor to?

Schoshe (spelling) makes an adapter that is a lot cheaper and supposedly easier to install but your aftermarket HU has to have a rear 2.5 head phone jack to use it
