TE KDSS Question

Hi All,

I was offroading and the KDSS grate on the front axle got pushed in. So naturally I'm curious as to the level of concern I should have. My two questions to you super savvy folks are:

1. Why does the grate need to keep things out?
2. What purpose is the unit it is attached to (KDSS I understand but specifically)?

Thank you kindly in advance for your expertise!

Are you by chance referring to the grated area on your skid plate?... I haven't noticed a grate on my KDSS system.

It's a "skid plate"...The grate is there for airflow/drainage??

Don't worry about it. Once you take the 4Runner out off road the stock skid is usually toast. Since you have KDSS, you just want to make sure on the driver side there is enough clearance between the skid and the KDSS Piston/bar to prevent it from bashing into each other off road.
