Nitto Terra Grapplers
Hello T4R! I just picked up a 2011 Limited and am absolutely in love with it. No complaints about anything except for the tires. After some research on here I think I'm going to go with some Nitto Terra Grappler's in 275/55 20.
Has anyone found a better deal then tirebuyer? The best deal I've found so far is from tirebuyer at $942 shipped including tax. Each tire is listed at $217.77. If you've found a better deal, please let me know. Thanks!

Find a local tire shop who take trade in's - a lot of us did that on here...some got a $100 a tire. Put that towards the Nitto's. I did that and paid like $570 total!

Definitely not a bad idea but I was planning on selling the 20" Limited's with the stock tires. I think I can get more money out of them this way. The wheelset only has about ~300 miles on them. Thanks though. I'll see what some shops say about a trade in.

Check out the Yokohama Geolander AT-S as well before you pull the trigger. 50k warranty and quieter while maintaining great off the beaten path performance. I love these tires.

so why get the Nitto 20s if you're getting new rims?

Thanks Brock! I'll look into the Yokohomas. Those tires look pretty good. Anyone else have experience with these tires?
Sandcrawler- I found a deal on some black 20" addicts that I just couldn't pass up. I need the tires for the new wheels.
My new rims are 20x9". I would like to run the widest tire possible without a lift. I have no plans of lifting the truck. I've read that 275/55 is about as wide as I should go. Anyone have any opinions or experience on this?

Yokos are only rated for 50K miles. They are a decent tire, I had a pair on my old CRV, but when I go to replace the tires I have, I'll probably be looking at BF Goodrich TAs, Nitto Terra Grapplers or Firestone Destination ATs for the price and warranty.
On a side not, brock, [did you come from a CRV too? I thought I recognized your screen name from the Honda boards, but not sure...

The Nittos are great and I have been running them for some time on my explorer, it turned the explorer into an actual suv instead of a glorified mini van.
As for price, mine are 17 inch rims, so mine were most likely cheaper because of that, they came in under $600 including mounting and balancing.

Sorry, mistyped posting on my phone. I would think that their characteristics would be different on a CRV vs 4R. I have had these things into some nasty stuff and came right out no issue. No problem spinning them clean in the mud either. I had Terra Grapplers on my superduty and they were loud, didn't last beyond 35-40k. Again, I am sure they would be different on the 4R vs F350, but with no mileage warranty I wasn't taking the chance. Plenty on here run them without issue, so I would think my issues were isolated. Side note, I had Nitto Neo Gen tires on my WRX for about a year before they dry rotted, again no mileage warranty. Discount Tire contacted Nitto who stated it was "because you're in Arizona" and refused to replace them. Discount Tire made it right, but that was the final straw for me and Nitto.
I have not owned a CRV, so must be someone else

Well lack of warranty knocks the Nitto TGs off my list. I was happy with the Yokos, just felt like they may have worn to quickly, but I was doing a lot more driving then than I am now. I'm interested to see how Brock's do on the Gen 5, as far as life span.
Strange, I think there is a member from the Honda community that has the same screen name, brockeverly... interesting coincidence

Just got a quote on trade-in value for my OEM stock tires w/ 13k on them at $40/tire. 285/70/17 Nitto TerraGrapplers $199/tire. Comes out to $907....
Worth it? Or wait till stock tires run down?!
HELP!!!

To me, that would depend on how competitive a price $199 is. I had a Michelin store offer me $75/ea for my oems, but he had jacked the MX2s to cover it.
If you WANT new tires, and you're REALLY getting $40, I'd go for it.

That's a question only you can answer. I can tell you from past experience that there isn't a huge market for traded in used tires. At least not as far as what tire brokers will offer you per tire. If I were you, I would consider buying the new set and then try and sell your OEM set on Craigslist. Of course $200 is probably the max on what you can even hope to get for OEM tires so is the extra $40 even worth your time/effort in dealing with Craigslist?

Is 275/55 20 the max one can go without a lift?

After reading lots of post here i'm going to run XD795 20x9 wheels, Nitto Terra Grapplers 285/50R20 with no lift. From what other have said they'll fit with no rubbing. You just have to make sure you get the right wheels. The XD795's are 20x9, Offset: -12mm, Backspacing: 4.52", Bolt Pattern: 6-139.
