Wiper washer problem

When you pull the wiper stalk back to spray washer fluid the wipers are not coming on to wipe off the spray. You have to turn them on. Anyone have this happen?

The only thing I have noticed if you have to pull the stalk for a few seconds 2-3 before the wipers come on. I feel it sprays too much fluid on before the wipers engage. I guess its made that way so the wipers and glass are wet instead of using a tiny bit of fluid and then rubbing dry dirt all over the place. Try holding it down for longer, if it doesn't engage after a few seconds, take it down to the dealer and have them look at it.
