Finally got all my pieces to modify my Smittybilt 2781 compressor today. I knew about weird non standard fittings it came with but for the power this has I was willing to spend a few dollars to change them. Works great, no leaks.

I also wanted to love the gauge closer to the compressor as it doesn’t have a pressure off switch so I’d have been running to the tire to check the psi then back to the compressor to shut it off. Not a great system but now it’s much better and I can hook it to a tire, go to the compressor and turn it on/monitor from there.

5.65 CFM which is pretty good if you ask me. Takes less than 2 minutes to bring my 285/70’s from 20-42psi.

Is switching the fitting just screwing a few things, or is it more of a "mod" that may or may not fail spectacularly?

Also moving the gauge? Looking at this setup myself (+1 hose to 4 tires!)

Pulled off my gas tank skid plate for the first time to knock out a dent.
Wanted to make sure there was no damage to the plastic tank.
That was more of a freaking pain than it needed to be.

installed a Pro roof rack onto my ORP.
Toyota sent me 3 LH cross bar clips and 5 RH cross bar clips. Had to grind one of the RH to make it fit on the opposite side but it worked.

They are probably running LT285/load E tires, which should be run somewhere between 38-42 PSI to meet the same load capacity as the OEM P265 tires, which are load C.

Replaced OEM group 24 battery with group 27F. Fits perfectly, weighs less than a group 31, but higher capacity than a typical group 34. Replaced battery tray with one from tundra/sequoia, which fits perfectly.

For hot PSI after getting back on paved roads, yes. That should equate to roughly 38psi cold which is what I’m running my KO2’s at.

Maybe “mod” wasn’t the right wording haha. I cut off the connector at the end of the black hose coming from the compressor and used a 3/8” barb to 1/4” NPT male fitting.

That went into a 1/4” T with the gauge on top, and the standard female air hose connection. Then I changed hoses to a 25’ coiled Kobalt hose from that big blue store because the coils were smaller.

toss the yellow hose it comes with in the trash alone with the gauge setup and off you go!

I love this. I'm considering adding something similar. I want a lower profile piece so the dogs and still ride in the back.

US Flags

I added US Flags to my back windows. Got them from xplore-offroad.com. You can get them with 10% off using USA10.
