Thanks Mike. I like them so far. I only have a few hundred miles on them in dry weather only. So far, I can tell you they are surprisingly quiet for such aggressive looking tires. I did a long trip today through some curvy two-lane highways and they handle and ride great. I wanted something more aggressive than my Destination AT's (also a great tire BTW), but not quite as aggressive as Duratracs. I think these hit the mark perfectly. My only warning would be that they do have a deep and aggressive tread for an AT, so they rub at full lock. I wonder if I wouldn't have had that problem with a less aggressive tire.

The sidewalls are also more aggressive than I expected or wanted, but they're growing on me. I have to say....285's look great and really fill out the fenders of the 4runner nicely. But, after putting the new tires next to my older 275's, they're not really much taller....maybe 1/2"-3/4" additional ground clearance. So, I think this is more of a cosmetic mod. If I could go back I MIGHT consider a 275 in an aggressive style....giving no rub, and easy fit for a spare (too bad there are very few choices in 275). At this point, by keeping the 285's, I'm pretty much committed to front body-mount chops and I'm uncertain if a spare will fit (conflicting reports on that). So, take-home is the AT2 is a great tire, but consider all the pro/ cons before going the 285 route.

Here's a crappy cell phone pick so you know it happened:

Awesome looking black; Two thumbs up for originality Alone!! (feeling a lil' jealous...Shhhh).

BTW: I think I like your "AT-2's", as much as I admire the "Nitto Terra"; and those Black rims w/ chrome bolts are Killer!!!

11/7/12-First oil change at 3,100 miles. The service mgr advised me that it was too soon for a scheduled L.O.F. service, but he would still honor the ToyotaCare contract, with the stipulation that I would forfeit the last free oil change, which would be at the 30,000 mi interval.

So, normally it's...10,000, 15,000, 20,000, 25,000, and 30,000 mile increments; I'll just lose the last one, which I don't mind!

Drove her to the body shop.....

Because another NYC azzhole does what NYC azzholes do when they damage another persons car.......nothing. No note,no sorry....just a damaged left rear 1/4 panel and a busted tail light......
They say bad things happen in three
1st - flat tire at work.....ok I noticed it before the end of the day and left on
time. Was going to change the tires anyway.
2nd- truck broken into. All contents stolen from center console and glove box.
Way to go Michigan! Not too bad. Only glass damage...
3rd- and god willingly final - 1/4 panel side swipe while parked at corner while
working out at the gym.....

Always more reason to want/need to leave this cess pool......

i'd hate to live in new york city.. visiting is one thing.. ppl are rude.. don't get me wrong this can happen anywhere.. but NYC has plenty of headaches and mangled front and rear bumpers.. hence why i havent and would never buy a car that was owned in NYC

Many a sleepless nights spent worrying about my cars, parked out in the wild.

I had some dirtbag try to pry my drivers side mirror, but when it shattered in his hands, he started kicking in my door panel out of frustration. This happened right in front of my house, recorded on my security cameras. Got his face and license plate. Too bad cops said they cant do anything since "I didnt see it"....WTF?!?!?!

BTW, Anthony... where in NYC did this last thing happen?

mtbnole 11-09-2012 12:19 PM

sat at tires plus for an hour and a half for them to patch what looked like half a razor blade in the tire.

oh, and of course they scretched the rims. I love the look of the TE rims, but the lip area gets damaged to easily.
time to plastidip...

I live in Long Beach NY

I've been using my trucks inverter to power a light and a heating blanket for almost two weeks. Priceless to say the least

Nothing much today, went to tint shop and had the front windows done. It's not legal California but I got the lightest tint. I want to block heat input. Did my other cars the same way with no problems.

Tested my CO2 tank, came up from 15 to 32 in way under a minute, maybe 30 seconds on stock tires.
