drilling the hole a bit back - is that to help with the bend of the wires, or to clear something?

It was a royal pain in the butt to tighten the bolts for the lights while installed in the 4Runner. I think it took the longest of the whole process. That and the dealing with the splash guard on the passenger side. (There's a shroud around the fog light on the passenger side to protect it from water and stuff entering in through the air intake holes in the fender liner on that side.

but, I'm 100% happy with the result.
Threw mine in the trash on the Pro. And threw it in the trash again on my SR5P.

YES. I drilled it parallel to the mounting hole and it caused a bit of stress on the wire that leads into the charger. Same distance, but drill it back a bit towards your dash and all will be good.

did it a little bit back like you suggested, The grommet was a battle and a half...it's in looking like a squashed oval. thankfully, no one will see it.

also, I had to remove the screws around the frame holding the lighter - couldn't get my hands in to unplug the power from the lighter.

then, of course, I dropped one of the power taps into the bowels of the center console. luckily for me I had a bunch on hand.

all in all, I'm very happy with the ram mount. have my phone and iPad mounted with power.

Going to get a different arm for the tablet, to allow me to lower it a bit more than I currently can.

Also that was a staged photo to get everything in view - the tablet was sitting higher for the picture..

so, in reality, the tablet will be lower and angled to not block my vision. The phone is in a good location.
