Another 2012 Limited question

OK - one more question on the 2012 LE 4runner -

Does anyone know if the spare tire comes with a TPMS sensor? I saw one post that indicated the Limited has a full size matching alloy spare, but there was a question as to whether it has a TPMS sensor. Our 2005 Sport Edition had a matching alloy spare and I don't know for certain that it had a TPMS monitor but I regularly did a 5 tire rotation and never had an issue with a TPMS light comining on because of that.

I would hope toyota included the 5th tpms sensor in the spare if they included a full size matching alloy rim.

I actually sat in a 2012 SR5 this past week - the only 4runner on the lot in the 3 area dealers. I confirmed that there is more headroom and the seat can be raised enough for me so as to alleviate the feeling of sitting on the floor with legs straight out. This will be my wife's primary vehicle if we buy it, but I will occassionally drive it. One major complaint for me on the 2005 was a lack of headroom and sitting so low that your legs are straight out. It made my butt go numb on long trips and I would find myself squirming in the seat after about 1 hour of driving.

A 2012 LE could be in our future....

No sensor in the spare.

Which must be why we don't have it.

I agree to a point. The TPM's and computer on my vette, indicates each tire and the PSI in each tire. LOVE IT. Pretty accurate too. <> 1lb from the best I can tell. TR4, just an idiot light. Don't know which tire or how much until you spend way too much time checking. Oh well, better then nothing I guess.
Then I can imagine myself spending a half hour checking my drive tires only to discover it was really my spare causing the alarm! I have enough challenges in my life, that is one I'd rather live without......lol.
Be Safe.

1. As previously posted, no TPMS in spare.
2. The wheel, while matching, is actually a different color. (It's not the same silver color as the other wheels. I believe it's either green or yellow) You wouldn't wanna run around on it for a long period of time because it's God ugly.
3. I'm 6'4. The headroom in this vehicle is much better than my 4th gen, and I have plenty of room in this guy. The 5th is huge by comparison, go sit in one, you'll know quick. Keep in mind that all limited's come with a moonroof, which takes a little of that head clearance away. You could special order to avoid the moonroof to get a few more inches of clearance, depending on your height.

Good luck!

I passed another 4runner on the interstate today with the yellow spare on. It looked awful. Why is it like this?

OK thanks all.

I can only venture a guess that the yellow paint is some sort of corrosion protection? I know that when the spares sit under the vehicle with the finished side up, a lot of sand and salt accumulate, and perhaps if left there for years the rim would corrode. Maybe toyota paints it yellow with some kind of rust protective finish??

Anyway I guess it won't make a difference, but it was nice to rotate 5 tires on our 2005 4Runner. I also did that on the 2005 RAV4 we still have - regular 5 tire rotations and the OEM cheap Toyo Transpath tires went 78,000 miles (about 60,000 actual miles each) and still had plenty of tread, but were getting noisy and out of balance. The worn down spare actually makes it a bit easier to get the tire cover on/off. So now the hard decision is to get rid of the RAV4 and buy a new 4Runner. The RAV4 has been ultra dependable. The only maintenance has been regular oil/filter/fluids, 1 complete brake job and tires. Still has original battery. Will get new plugs and fluids changed again once the weather warms up.
