It is not needed, don't do it. You are risking very expensive repairs if you do.

that flyer does not say "Toyota" recommends this. therefore, that...
we have all read horror stories of KDSS being bled by people who do not know better. A spacer sounds much cheaper and less detrimental than doing this to your ride...

i'm going to be doing both.. even when leveling by recalibrating the kdss it still may not sit level(by toyota standards), so the spacers will get it there i'm thinking

let us know how it goes. also do you know about some toyota documentation that supports this "recalibrate the system" flyer?

No, I haven't seen anything from toyota on it. But in the aftermarket world, not everything will be provided by or approved by the vehicle manufacturer.
If I somehow mess up the kdss system, I may just rip it out.......

This is a follow-up in case anyone is curious. Mine had a good lean going towards the passenger side, I would say 3/4-1". I consider myself mechanically capable, so if you're not, I wouldn't do it just because of the risk involved. I followed the directions to a T. I didn't back the bolts out more than 3/8" since they said no more than 1/2". To my horror, it was almost level afterwards. Big drama. Anyway, glad I tried it, it looks a lot better now.

There is actually a procedure for this in the FSM. Seems like up to ¾" of lean is acceptable.

Yea I already bought the spacers to level it and I'm gonna do the recalibration. I just moved to NC and don't have my tools or a garage to do it anytime soon yet

For kicks I did this, its a 10min job. 4 bolts (2x 12mm for the KDSS "skid" and then 2 x 10mm for the bleed valves. It may have made a difference but it was small (1/16-1/8")......before and after measurements are not with me at the moment. If you have a lean I would say give this a try for the simple fact that its an easy thing to try

go for it. let us know how it goes. a positive KDSS calibration story would be a nice change from all the horror stories.

Can anyone provide more specific instructions for this procedure? With photos perhaps? Would appreciate it very much.
