Lightbulb Removing X-REAS from a Limited

I've done a bunch of reading on removing the X-reas system and I think I'm ready for my ICON install . The only thing I want to be sure on are the disconnect points on the x-reas system so the system does not leak any of its fluid. I know there are 4 disconnect points, 1 at each corner, and it takes 2 wrenches to disconnect.

Are these the correct disconnect points?
Front

Rear

Is this the Xreas canister I should be removing? 1 on each side?

Thanks guys.

Yes and yes
The rear check valves are at the rear of the canisters if I remember right.
Here are pics of the xreas off my truck and a close up of one of the 4 check valves. It 's kind of a pain to fish the hard lines thru the front where the body mount is.... XREAS retrofit on SR5

Every detail is in the factory repair manual online here also and where I actually read and learned how to remove it.

From the 120 boys:

Hold the one which has the finger on it and turn the one just right of it.

So, hold 1 and turn 2. Don't mess with 3 or 4.

One other really important thing I forgot to mention .....all 4 wheels have to be in the air so the shocks are fully extended to relieve pressure before you take any of the check valves loose.

You'll feel like it's a whole other beast with the Icons on!
Almost 2 years and 35k miles and my Icon Remotes still feel like the day I put them on.

anyone have any other tips for XREAS removal?

Looks like - put it on a lift (floor jacks in my case), hold the nut closest to the cylinder- spin the next in line. Dont lose any fluid= pressure maintained.

Does this maintain the integrity of the XREAS system and allow for reuse? Or are these dead soldiers once i take them off?

Going to get this pile of ICON, BudBuilt, and Metal Tech boxes out of my garage finally, and this will have to be the first step! ;)
I'll post my progress in my little build thread. Game On!

i just found out that my right front shock is either about to blow or already blown. the Xreas on the 2012 limited we have, the other day i was riding down a gravel road with some wash-board bumps on it and the right front started sounding like it was coming loose like the bolts were loose. you could hear a hard sound similar to the shock shaking in the shock tower and you could feel it in the passengers floorboard. i got out and all i can tell is the shock is oily and dusty from the road. i assume the shock has lost a seal and bottoming out easily.

we already have a small lift kit installed and it retained a great ride, or as good as a 2" lifted 4runner could i suppose but i want to take the Xreas off and i see so much about all the aftermarket coil-over systems but it appears that everyone claims the ICON rides the best. taking the busted Xreas shocks off and replacing the suspension with the ICON stuff would be the best option from what i read. how have you guys in this thread enjoyed yours? this is a 99% on road vehicle just looking to help dampen the jarring from pot holes and occasional bumps in the highway. rarely and i mean like .5% of its life will be running down a gravel road or gravel driveway. will the ICON help smooth the ride out and make the small road bumps feel less noticable?

If you are not Offroading and only have the lift (I presume you are currently running spacers) for looks, than an icon setup may be overkill in the cost department. If you have the money to burn, it is all sorts of sexy. However, aftermarket suspension takes MORE maintenance, has MORE clunks, pings and weird noises than your OEM suspension. So be aware of that before you spend your hard earned money.

Beyond that.... I love my stage 6 from icon for what I use my truck for.

yeah purely on road ride. and the additional lift possible. my wife wants it lifted more. i keep telling her whats on it is as big as you can go without a differential drop bracket and she just wants it bigger.

we had 285-55-20 BFgoody on it but since they changed the pattern and the new tire hasnt had as great of results in the longevity dept we swapped to Generals and are running the 305-50-20 generals. they are considerably wider and look amazing under the vehicle. yes i know there are tons of guys on here that will claim the tire is too wide. i have read the hundreds of pages on this forum about the wide tires on the stock 20" wheels. if i didnt already have 200,000 combined miles with 285s and now over 40,000 miles on the generals i would say maybe they were right. but with the right pressure these tires work great. she and i both love them and she just wants her 4runner a bit "bigger" so i was thinking about the ICON and upper control arms and diff drop down bracket and crank it up another inch or so so it looks more "lifted" to her. but i just dont want it to ride like a chuck wagon with 3" lift cranked up from the coil-overs. i want it to still ride great. i have read pages and pages of testimonials and everyone says the ICON rides great. but how great is great. like smooths pot holes out on the road better than the Xreas? or worse? articulation off road and ride quality in sandy whoops dont matter its purely an on road vehicle with an occasional gravel driveway. what will drive the best with the most amount of lift we can get out of it. if 2" is as big as i should go then thats what we will do. if the icons ride as good at 3" as they do at 2" then i wanna go up.
