2012 4Runner vs 2012 Lexus GX460
I really don't like the new 4Runner design and don't ever think it'll grow on me. I wish they designed the 2012 4Runner like the outside of the 2012 Lexus GX460.
Anyone else feel the same way about the new 4Runners? See 2012 GX460/4Runner attached.

The new runners that are 3 years old?
and I honestly see more of a resemblance between the 4th gens and that.

To each their own. The Lexus looks exactly like what it is: A luxury-laden SUV.

Yes. I guess it's because I'll be in the market eventually and have no clue as what to get once that day comes... Heck, by then the 4Runner will have changed designs again.

Did you seriously just ask a forum full of 5th Gen 4Runner owners if we wish it looked different?

Personally I think the new 13' LX looks better than the GX - Of course starting at over 80k it will be just a dream.
Between the GX & 4R, they are both nice, but I like the more aggressive look of the 4R.

It looks like an over-weight, over-priced Highlander imo.
I like the 4Runner design though. I don't want a soft SUV.

Additional things that will make it a deal breaker: Barn door and no rolling down the back window. I use it way too much to not be able to roll it down from the front and let my dumb dog hang his head out the back.

My only big complaint about the 5th gen is the lack of good visibility over the hood. The downward slopping hood design on the GX460 offers a better view of the road. The V8 is nice too and a few other options but the price is too hard to swallow. Plus aftermarket support on the GX will most likely never match that of the 4R. We will most likely have a 2012 LTD in the stable by the end of the year.

Or my wifes 1996 Honda CR-V. Too similar in looks. For that price I would want a vehicle where the manufacture has a little imagination in looks.

The 4Runner seems to fit in between the GX and the LX Lexus models. Doesn't really seem like an "apples to apples" comparison. Seems kind of silly to spend $10k more for a GX instead of a more capable and larger 4Runner.
If you are looking to spend more money, you can get a 4runner and fix it up like so many people do here, or crack open your wallet a little wider and get a Land Cruiser.

To make a fair comparison between the T4R and GX you should test drive the GX. I would put the GX up against the T4R in ANY test (even off road). The GX has the best of all worlds (luxury, bells/whisles and ability). The main/big difference is the 4.6 V8 and six speed. Toyota REALLY dropped the ball not making it available in the 4Runner!
