Talking New Shoes!

Bad cell phone pic, but just got some 17" wheels and the 285/70/17 Duratracs

Truck feels completely different now with the larger width and stronger sidewalls. Very mild but pleasing hum on the road; nothing too obnoxious.

The wheels are MB Torque 17x8.5 with +10 offset and 5.14" backspace. These weren't my first choice in wheels but they're growing on me. At least they aren't chrome.

Everything fits fine except for rubbing on the front of the liners in reverse (will pull the liner forward tomorrow). Replaced the spare as well - fits in the normal space with no problems and is still about 1 - 2" higher than the rear diff.

Discount Tire did a great job; very impressed with their speed & service.

Last thing for this year will be sliders & a hi-lift so I could actually change the tire if needed - even the floor jack is pretty low at this point!

Easy now, I see nothing wrong with chrome...

You will love those tires I am sure. I cannot get enough of driving now, the sound, the feel, the look. I love every part of them.

True - nothing wrong with Chrome, just not my thing . I don't like the black rims either, at least not w/ the Mag Grey. I think the black rims look great on Silver.

Can you take a photo of the spare? I want to see how far it actually hangs down.

Couldn't easily get down low enough in my work clothes, but here's a couple of pics:

As level a view as possible from the back:

The lowest point of the tire is at about 12"; the lowest point of the rear diff is somewhere between 10.5 & 11". I'll measure better later on.

A pick showing how much of the spare is exposed:

I'm guessing the departure angle is a bit worse now than it was with the Limited/SR5 bumper by itself.

These tires are load range D.
