First of all, I ordered my first 4Runner yesterday!!! 2012 Trail, Classic Silver, KDSS, Entunes, Running Boards, All Weather Mats, hood protector. Turns out, its on the boat and my dealer claimed the allocation so I will have it in December!!! (They will add running boards, etc).
I really like the sound of the JBL 15 speaker system BUT it is not available on the 12 model, so I went with Entunes with the 8 speakers.
First of all, does anyone have a schematic of where the 15 speakers for the JBL system are located vs the 8 speakers of Entunes?
Secondly, does Toyota use a "generic" speaker wiring harness in a T4R's so that any open speaker locations already have the wiring run (I know, too much to hope for!)
Third, has anyone added an amp, or is an amp necessary, for the Entunes head unit? Does it have more power than the standard unit?
I do like a deeper bass and if the Entunes head unit has the same power output as the standard, I have searched and seen complaints of the lack of low frequency sound from the speakers but that with more power, the sound improves. May just mean a subwoofer... anyone installed just that and an amp in the space used by the JBL unit
Once again, woo-hoo! Finally in a 4Runner. Made a bad choice back in 2000 and fell for the 0% financing, lower price and higher HP (at the time) of the Isuzu Trooper... Its now 12 years old, only 170k miles, 2 engines and 4 transmissions!!! Time to retire the old girl and step up to a 4Runner!
