Can't believe they actually want it to feel that way?
Other than that- I'm good.
I completely agree with this and it's the thing I dislike the most about my 4Runner. I didn't realize this was something that could possibly be corrected with an alignment.

Harper can you post some pictures of the 3M tape on the back of your runner?

OK I am a virgin 4 Runner owner and after only a month of owning a 2012 LE I must say I am happy with my purchase, sure I have never found a vehicle that matches all my wants and desires and I think I never will seeing as its hard for a manufacture to please everyone.

Some people may want more power for towing, some more power in the stereo, me I like compartments to put stuff in. I am a typical "There is a place for everything, and Everything has its place".
Take the sunglass case above the center colum, love that idea, but why stop there? Many people on this forum have pulled, cut or broke off those covers above the rear wheel wells to find more secret space to put stuff. Now why wouldn't Toyota think about using this space or space under the rear seats for jumper cables or tow rope. C'mon think outside the box.

I agree with the majority about the brakes or the (Wet shoe complex) I honestly find it crazy that Toyota would let that pass, Oh Mr. Toyota, the brakes work great but we have this strange mushing sound when we depress the brake what shall we do? "Oh just leave it, I like the sound" C'mon man.

The hood does rattle and bodywork seems very thin, however it does not bother me so much yet.

The position of the window switches baffles me too, when the window is cracked slightly in the rain the water drops onto the switches and into the door???

More power, I don't understand why they got rid of the "Option" to have the V8, sure I don't need it, but I like many people like to know I had the "Option" of selecting it if I wanted.

I too whish it had memory seats in the LE, as the LE is supposed to be the top of the line so why not. I would also like to see ventilated seats too, I live in Las Vegas and it gets way too hot in the summer not to have them, my wifes Lexus has them and I can only explain it as beautiful experiance specially on a long journey.

Also is it me or are cars getting harder to work on by yourself now-a-days, I remember as a kid I could always change the oil and oil filter, but after laying on the garage floor looking on how to possibly change the oil on my 5th gen, I find my time is more important that spending it under my truck taking off the skid plate to get to the filter.

The stereo I think is kiss ass, and love the sound, I dunno why it takes so long to search for a song when I have a mini flash drive plugged into the AUX though....

Illuminated home link buttons is a great idea, I had them on my GMC truck for christs sake, how come they are not on my runner OR my wifes Lexus...

The seat wear issue is yet to be an issue on my truck, but I can see it happening in the future as I have to practically slide out of the truck.

I have two large dogs and although I haven't had the scratch problem on the rear deck lid I'm sure I'm going to get some 3M tape to protect it as much as I can.

The headlights have not started to haze and I hope they don't.

The stock antenna went as soon as I got home, way too long and ugly as sin.

I am sure there are more things but don't get me wrong my runner is the best car I have owned I'm not putting it down I just think it could have been a little better. Just like Harper said, when it boils down to brains or saving money, the beancounters will always win out.

Now someone sticky this thread.

I'll throw in a few.
Limited
1.Relocation of the 4wd switch. It's taking up a perfect cupholder spot.

2.Maintenance schedule in the Nav. Why is this not linked to the ecu for mileage?

3.The dash lights controls are backwards. There should be 2 settings, one for night and one for day. When you have them set at a nice level for night, when the sensor triggers from enough light for daytime the dash lights get 3 times as bright as the night settings. Then when you turn them down for daylight they are barely readable at night.

4 .Dvd disc reader that doesnt play dvds. I live on Vancouver Island and going on road trips we deal with the ferries (sitting in the parking lot waiting for ferries) it would be nice if the nav screen could play dvds. The Nav disc is a dvd, I can't believe in this age of electronics there isn't some sort of hack that works so the nav would play dvds, other than adding an external player with the overpriced connection boxes on the market.

This seems correct to me, the lights need to be considerably brighter (just like an iPhone when it auto adjusts) to be seen in daylight. That's how it worked on my auto lights on my frontier.

Haven't seen this mentioned but i'll go back and double check...
I know it's been talked about to death on here, but go back to a screw type oil filter. I know it's green or whatever, but still, look at the taco, so easy to get to and still a screw type filter.

1) Factory HU interface is very poor. Can't see full song titles on XM (why not scroll??), iPod interface is terrible.
2) Should have lights in ALL switches/buttons/etc
3) Cruise control is very over-reactive
4) Full-time 4WD on all models (would have gotten a TE!)

Absolutely love the truck - especially with the new suspension and tires. No comments about those being added to the truck from the dealer though - aftermarket will probably always be higher quality & it's fun to learn about it.

I guess it's just really noticable to me as I'm usually driving when the transition happens, so it's kinda like wtf when the lights get way brighter.

Part of the problem is that all the dash lights are linked the gauges will be so bright that you turn them down then you can barely read the center console gauges. The hvac control gauges are almost unreadable in the day without the switch turned all the way up.

My top 5 complaints:

5) I hate how capable this truck is off-road. I like getting stuck!

4) I hate the roll-down rear window. WTF is up with that? If I want "angels licking the nape of my neck", I will....uh....

3) I hate how people look at my truck and give me compliments. Really ticks me off!

2) Body-On-Frame....need I say more?

And my biggest complaint:

1)This forum! This place is such a waste of time! ugh!

BTW,
Hopefully the Toyota engineers take this thread back to their bean counters and say "Hey guys, TOLD YOU SO!"

Yea, this issue has been discussed A LOT over the last year or so now. Do a search using Caster or Castor, and you will be amazed. All the specifics are there...good luck. Be safe.

Hey, if you need a "light" for a "sunroof", that means you really have a "moonroof". An option not listed on Toyo's web site. Consider yourself very, very special!

Haha, It's for those nights when you're by yourself on a dark highway and you just want the wind blowing in your hair as you crank the Alanis Morrissette. No time to be fumbling for switches, Sir.

1. BRAKE ASSIST!!!!!!!! Too sensitive. Wish it could be adjusted by dealer.
2. Rear wiper doesn't cover enough.
3. Cargo area lights (there should also be one in the ceiling in addition to the rear gate ones.)
4. Engine Compartment light not available -- should be standard on every vehicle IMHO.
5. Slightly underpowered, especially when towing.
6. Limited models should have a rear diff lock optional.

Another WTF?Oh yea, forgot about the JBL Nav and the frustrating ipod/usb music interface that it had .
My solution was to sell it on Ebay for $800(they have been going for more lately) and buy a Pioneer Avic Z120BT for $950. Tunes problem solved with my 160gb iPod Classic plugged into it's usb and all my music on it at the touch and swipe of my fingers.
