The two cup holders in centre console are adjustable, there's an "adaptor" in holder, and you can take it out for a bigger mug.

You can use the steering wheel.

My List
Wants:
1. Better Stereo Options on all models (Dealer could not do anything above basic without adding KDSS)
2. Heated and cooled seats in TE (Leather not required)
3. Power Liftgate
4. Push to start on TE with remote start and rf touch entry and lock (no pressing of key fob)
5. Sunglass holder on TE's
6. Less intrusion by break assist and traction / stability control (they are too quick to jump in and so abrupt they are at times more dangerous than if they didn't even exist.
7. More sound deadening especially in doors which sound cheap when closing (at nearly $40K I would like a little more quality all the way around)
8. Dual Climate control on ALL MODELS
9. Stronger Struts on Rear Liftgate
10. Under Hood Lighting on TE's (again for this price range this should be standard on all models)
11. Re-route exhaust away from back window so it can be open without flooding exhaust fumes into vehicle.
12. factory cruise less aggressive. (forces hard downshifting too frequently)
Current Issues as/is:
1. Hazing of headlights too severe (poor quality)
2. Antenna Mast (already shortened)
3. Over intrusive brake assist and (traction / stability control).
4. Excessive repeated downshifting when climbing a hill
5. Seats on my TE are wearing fast
6. Door panels already have some color differentiations at the lower plastic areas where drink holders are located.
I know, I know I sound like I bought the wrong vehicle but that's not the case. I love my T4R TE even for its shortcomings. Would just like Toyota to step up and recognize and work toward resolving some of them.
Sorry to ramble on.... peace and love to all

Some of the things I didn't see mentioned:
Security issue: garage link not to be powered up all the time.... Anyone can break in and open your garage. REALLY DUMB! I'm sure this one can be fixed for someone like Antman but for someone like me... and followed by when I screw up.
Really nice to have an all lights on switch, could easily be on the dash light meter with rolling up & a switch.
& one last thing... with everything said on this thread, I love my 4runner.

Hazing headlights - possible solution:
I purchased new OEM housings for my retrofit project and have been using Wolfgang Plastik Sealant on them once per month. Simple application with a microfiber pad, let sit until it hazes over, then wipe off with a microfiber towel. I have not noticed any hazing since I installed the new headlights in Nov 2011. It may be too early to tell so I'll report back in a few months.
Complaints:
No memory seating - I hate it when the car wash guys adjust my seat
Poor tailgate wiper sweep coverage
Thin sheet metal on doors - will eventually apply sound deadening material
No overhead dome light in cargo area
Other than that, I love my truck! I purchased mine in Dec 2009 and have 55K miles with no major problems.

That is a HUGE Problem for me.
To add:
1. 20"x7" wheels, terrible, can't get AT tires unless I swap rims.
2. Memory seats for sure
I really can't think of anything else

There is a fix for the ipod issue, btw. Mine did the same thing with my wife's 4th gen Nano, but we almost exclusively use bluetooth streaming now, so I haven't bothered to fix it. Bluetooth streaming is wayyyy better than the USB interface.

If there is please share. Ive had the dealer replace the stereo twice now with no change. Issue still persisits. I would stream but I have 12K songs on my Ipod and my phone wont hold nearly that many. I actually listen to that many too.

Hi. This is my first post. I just wanted to comment on how useful and informative this thread is for potential 4Runner buyers like myself. There is no substitute for the experience of a vehicle's owners.
Although my4Runner experience is limited to a single test drive of a 2011 LE, I'd still like to take this opportunity to make one contribution on one of the most positive features that I, as an absolute expert in this particular matter, have observed in the 2010+ 4Runner -- fantastic front legroom!! -- legroom that has actuually been increased over the previous years' legroom, even though the manufacturer's spec. has not been updated to reflect this reality.
I'm 6'6" and have very long legs, even for my height. When the power front seat is moved all the way back and then tilted all the way downward, after I remove my shoes and put my feet under the pedals against the floor, I am able to stretch my legs flat and be perfectly comfortable! (The only other vehicles in which I can do this are the Highlander with a manual seat and, not quite as much, the Venza and Mit. Outlander.) In this position, I can actually tilt the wheel downward so that as I drive down a highway I can steer the vehicle with my right thumb and forefinger, as my right hand rests on my right thigh. (On the highway, I'm definitely NOT a "10 and 2" man.)
The 4Runner's leather seat is also very comfortable, but, again, I only sat in it for a relatively short period of time. In short, long-legged people are going to be very very happy in a 2010+ 4Runner.
Thanks for the wonderful forum and the opportunity to post.

i think he's saying that the "fix" is to use BT streaming? yeah, that's not a fix in my book, either. "doc, my arm hurts when i go like this." doc: "don't go like that."

hear, hear! this is a great idea for a thread, Gary. thanks for establishing a single, easily referenced place to codify the complaints/problems most common to the 5th Gen 4Runner.
my issues mirror same here:
- lumbar crunch and seat creak
- overly aggressive VSC/TRAC
- headlight fogging
- windshield ticks and creaks in cold weather
- sunroof rattles intermittently, esp. when tilted up
- unusable iPod navigation via USB input
none of these issues are major, and could all be fixed with a TSB. here's to informing Toyota of these issues so they'll know to fix them.

I thought about that later and believe you are probably correct. Crazy me, I paid for it, might as well have it work.

Love my truck, but here are the nits (mostly things that I miss from my old 4th gen):
-Put the assist handle back on the A pillar, driver side (love the one over the window, tho)
-Put back the locking gas cap door
-Shakey hood
-Bulging tail lights (I always liked the way the tail lights on the 4th gen (and earlier) conformed to the body). If Toyota changes them on a refresh, I would definitely buy them.
-Make seat heaters available on the TE.
-Put the rear wiper back under the window so that the roof spoiler can have a gap to clear the rear window as I'm driving (like the 4th gen did).
-Tinny sounding front doors.
-Please make seat/mirror memory available.
-Make electric passenger seat as adjustable as the driver's seat.
-Front cupholders on the 4th gen were the best I've had. Put both of them back in the front of the console, and bring back the cool cup-size adjustment.
-My 4th gen LE also had a great fold-out shelf on the front of the center armrest that came in handy.
-Give the TE a built-in holder for sunglasses.
Great thread idea (especially if Toyota pays attention). Thanks!

My Problems.
1. dead pedal squeaks if you rest your foot on it under 45F
2. alignment is way off cupping tires at 5k
3. driver seat wearing quickly
4. sometimes sounds as if entire front suspension is loose when turning over bumps while accelerating
5. hood shakes like crazy at 45mph+ (i know thin metal issue)
6. Wind Noise over 65mph+
7. Random down shifts or incorrect gear selection when under light acceleration
Truck is going to Toyota this week.
My wants.
1. stiffer steering at least at slower speeds
2. power rear tailgate (my wife is 4'11 and has to jump to close it)
3. better tires (from the factory)
4. less nose dive under braking
5. iPod interface and Bluetooth is so slow sometimes
6. Nav slow when entering in address (my wife's old 08 Prius was faster)
7. Factory HIDS (have added DDM kit to mine)
8. More power
Thats my issues. Will update after truck goes in for service this week
