Happy Birthday to my truck! And a dealer rant...
My truck was a year old on Monday. Zero problems!
I also took it to the dealer to get the oil changed and a quick once over as I'm driving to South Carolina tomorrow. When it was done I was looking over the paperwork, and I noticed the tech wrote that all four of my tires were 30psi and he inflated them to 32. I have Duratracs inflated to 42psi. I checked my tires- 42psi. I did my best to make sure everything else was actually done, and went back in and flipped my sh!t on the customer relations person, as everyone else had gone to lunch.
The way I see it, they were supposed to check something that could be kind of important. Not only was it not done, the record of it was falsified. It took a few minutes for her to get it. They called me back this morning and said the mechanic was afraid to mess with my tires, and didn't want to leave the space on the form blank. I told them I won't be coming back.
This is the dealer where I bought the truck (Hudson Toyota,) but I usually take it to Route 22 Toyota for service. I guess I'll be staying with Route 22. They are the only dealer service department I trust. I don't think I overreacted, did I?
Also, in case they are still rare, Hudson Toyota has at least one Magnetic Grey TE in stock.

One: You may have over-reacted just a little bit, but meh. You're justified.
Two: A mechanic afraid to mess with tires? How old is the mechanic? 5 years-old?
Three: Jesus Christ. 42 psi? Is that cold or hot?

I keep my Duratracs at 40. I take mine to a dealer in MA and request the psi to be set at 40 every time I'm there and they comply with all of my requests.

I don't know if you ever get north, but I use Rockland Toyota, about 15 north past the Tappan Zee bridge. Its only a few minutes from where I work. You can everything online, and drive right into the facility. They have a great in store deli too!
I haven't had any luck with dealers up by me....so I gave up.

Thanks for the info, I'll keep Rockland Toyota in mind. I work in the Bronx, so its not a big deal to head up that way. For now I'm good with Rt 22. Their shop foreman is a huge truck guy and very attentive to his customers. He actually knows about these forums too!
Antman- Shut up about that thing. I'll make it seem like it was you! I know photoshop...

You didn't overreact but any expectation of a dealership above dirt is too high.
My dealership put new tires on my truck. I had to go back twice for them to get the alignment right. The kid who washes cars must have done the first two attempts.
I get free oil changes for life but I still don't bring it there.

"Mechanic" ?? That wasn't no stinking mechanic - it was the knuckledragger car wash/oil change/HS dropout guy.
Personally, I think this is a lie on top of a lie. I HATE being BS'd ... (my brain says 'this person thinks you're stupid').
Hell no, you didn't overreact, I'd have done the same thing.
When I get BS'd, they get called on it. Ahh, I feel better now - ummm more coffee.

So what do you do? Just asking because I also get free oil changes for life, but I just don't trust the Dealership. I'd rather take it to my trusted mechanic that I've been going to for the last 20+ years. The wife thinks I'm crazy!

lol looks like we suffer from the same lack of tolerance for this kind of BS. I don't mind being lied to but it irks the hell out me that they think Im stupid enough to believe their lies.

Go to the trusted mechanic. It's a $35k truck. Spending $25 every 3-5k miles won't kill you. But bringing it to a dealer might.
