Which salesman did you work with?

You snagged a hell of a deal. Good luck with it. I wish it was in my driveway.
I actually worked directly with the general sales manager, Andrew Hall. I work for a dealer so I called him up and asked if he would be willing to wholesale it to us (just dealer to dealer, so don't have to pay the fees). This was a few weeks ago. Had it shipped in last week and I just bought it through my work.

When did you put a deposit on it? Wonder if it was a miscommunication or just the dealer being shady.

I was looking all over for one and then a couple guys on the forum here forward me that one.

I gave them a $200 deposit on 8/2. This was with the verbal and written understanding that I had first right to buy it, and that it was mine unless I backed out and pulled the deposit (which I did not do, and which was refunded after they told me it had been sold...without notifying me that another party was interested).

The salesman I had been working with went on vacation and told me he had told the manager (and left note for other salespeople) to not sell the vehicle, but clearly that wasn't the case...

After the truck was sold out from under me I asked the salesman for a quote on a new 4Runner-- and politely requested they match pricing I had been given elsewhere-- and he never got it to me, despite my emailing him numerous times and having left him multiple voicemails. Based on this, I'm inclined to think it was in fact the dealer being shady. If absolutely nothing else, he could have gotten back to me and said they couldn't match the pricing...but, alas, nothing.

You lucked out...take good care of that truck. It's pretty damn sweet.

And to those looking to buy a 4Runner, used or new, I urge them to *never* buy from Stephen Toyota in Bristol, Connecticut. @drewsro got a good deal and a great truck in the process, but they treated me like utter garbage. I will do everything in my power to make sure that prospective 4Runner owners know that.

Damn, that's shady. I called them on the 17th and asked if it was still available. The sales manager said yeah and so we struck up the deal then. If I had a deposit on a car I was selling here at my work, I would never sell it out from under them. That's bad business. I didn't really even like the way they handled the deal with me.

I already did a full detail on it (large dealerships don't know how to properly detail a car) and even undercoated the frame. It had more rust underneath than I preferred, but it being from the East coast it didn't surprise me.

Looks like you did a good job cleaning it up. It definitely needed a solid detailing.

What did you pay for it, if you don't mind me asking?

Interesting to hear that you weren't treated well either. Reflects extremely poorly on the dealership as a whole, considering it wasn't even the same salesperson. And yes...it's terrible business on their part to do what they did to me. They lost a sale and a local customer, and I hope they lose many more in the future because from my extremely dismal experience they in no way deserve to sell a single vehicle.

I ended up paying $24,000 plus $700 shipping. Not sure if they discounted it less to you and that's why they sold it out from under you or what. They're also sending us a $300 check for undisclosed damage up on the front passenger fender/bumper. It was dented in and the bumper fitment was off.

My deal was for $24,500...so not sure what happened. Clearly a miscommunication (or complete lack-thereof) on their end. A reflection of how terrible they are as a dealership.

And I know exactly the spot you're talking about. I took pictures of it and asked everything. Had I bought it they were going to repair the dent prior to delivery.

It even makes less sense now. What idiots.

I had my dent guy look at it and he said it looked like someone attempted to fix it but did a shitty job and gave up. He said they either gave up because they couldn't access the proper spot to push from or they just didn't feel like trying. It doesn't bother me too much, so I might just leave it. I did fix the flares though so that they lined up properly.

Honestly, I'm severely RG colorblind, so I had to check the color code to make sure it was actually blue....guess it is according to Toyota.
I still think these Shoreline Blue TE's are best looking 4runners of all time. I wanted one when I bought mine but couldn't find one. 4runner unicorn.

Anyone know the production numbers for colors, trim, and year. Just curious how many other Shoreline Blue Trail Editions are out there like mine, thanks!

2010 LE SBP after a snow run on some rural roads. I've ditched the 20" wheels for 17"s...I really like the color as it seems to take on properties of what is around it. (I think others have mentioned that). Swapped the interior lights for LEDs. Looking to swap out the upper grill next.
