When did you put a deposit on it? Wonder if it was a miscommunication or just the dealer being shady.
I was looking all over for one and then a couple guys on the forum here forward me that one.

I gave them a $200 deposit on 8/2. This was with the verbal and written understanding that I had first right to buy it, and that it was mine unless I backed out and pulled the deposit (which I did not do, and which was refunded after they told me it had been sold...without notifying me that another party was interested).
The salesman I had been working with went on vacation and told me he had told the manager (and left note for other salespeople) to not sell the vehicle, but clearly that wasn't the case...
After the truck was sold out from under me I asked the salesman for a quote on a new 4Runner-- and politely requested they match pricing I had been given elsewhere-- and he never got it to me, despite my emailing him numerous times and having left him multiple voicemails. Based on this, I'm inclined to think it was in fact the dealer being shady. If absolutely nothing else, he could have gotten back to me and said they couldn't match the pricing...but, alas, nothing.
You lucked out...take good care of that truck. It's pretty damn sweet.
And to those looking to buy a 4Runner, used or new, I urge them to *never* buy from Stephen Toyota in Bristol, Connecticut.

got a good deal and a great truck in the process, but they treated me like utter garbage. I will do everything in my power to make sure that prospective 4Runner owners know that.
