Shrockworks bumper and BB Skids?

Ok so long story short, I had ordered a full set of skids and was told that it would work with my shrockworks front bumper. Received the skids, painted them, and than realized I was missing about 80% of the hardware. For now most of the skids are held with stock hardware or I bought some nuts and bolts at home depot. Hopefully getting an answer from Bud soon.

But anyways, I ran into this problem. As you can see, that L part of the skid has to go up behind the bumper, but at the bottom of the bumper, theres some sort of plate. Am I suppose to take that silver part off, push the skid up, and reinstall it? I just don't think it would work, the screws would have to go in at an angle if that was the case. I'm also guessing that this is why none of the rest of my skids are completely flat with each other. The first 2 are flush, but everything else is a little off.

Any shrockworks people have the BB skids and have this same problem? Thanks.

~Andrew

i dont have and skids, but it seems like the L part of the budbuilts would be tucked above the other plate

so it would the frame, budbuilt, and the diagonal plate under the bud built

a budbuilt sandwich

I'll have to look at it again, but from what I remember or maybe I was so pissed about the hardware not even coming with it, but I think if we push that part up and sandwhich it, it'll be at an angle and the bolt won't sit well. I'm probably wrong though.

Looks like it would be close enough to give it a try!

Double check to see if you got the skids for KDSS. The front of the skids are different.

When I got my skids from BB some of the hardware was taped inside the cardboard spacers that keep the skids from moving in the box. Hope you didn't already throw out the packaging!

From the picture he supplied, he has the non-KDSS skids. The access panel for oil changes is flat on the KDSS models and is formed with a bend to match the skid on the non-KDSS models as in his pic.

Yea I noticed he either taped a bag on the actual skid or it was taped inside a folded cardboard spacer. But I only found 1 bag out of all the spacers and that one had 4 bolts in it for the crossmember.

Did you ever get this resolved? Did you get the wrong skids (KDSS vs. non-KDSS)? I'm weighing the pros and cons of different skids and bumpers and I really like the BB skids and the Shrockworks bumper combo, but want to make sure they truly are compatible. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Beautiful truck, BTW...I drool every time I see it.

Ok so I got underneath it again and I don't know whats up with it. I don't have KDSS, it would make more sense if I did have the KDSS model skid with my bumper.

As you can see, its suppose to go frame > BB > SW. But once you bolt in the bb skid, there isn't a whole to screw in the silver plate through the BB. If the BB hole was 2 inches towards the edge it would work, but its not. The holes don't line up.

I ran into the same issue with my Shrockworks gas tank skid and Budbuilt sliders. In my scenario, it's supposed to go FRAME > SLIDERS > SKID, but the Bud's sliders use different holes than the Shrockworks skid. They're off by about .5". See if you can take a picture of the alignment issue and email it to bud @ budbuilt.com and see if he has some suggestions. He's asked me to send him pictures of my alignment issue as well.

there are several threaded holes in the oem front crossmember.
can you just drill out the hole in the bb for sw access? Set them on a bench overlapping one another as they would be on the frame and mark holes on each to match all 4.
Or just send them to me and i will solve it for you ;)
You are mating up 2 manufactures of aftermarket parts. Each one does things their own way for whatever reason and I always expect to run into a couple ripples anytime im modding my toys. Part of the fun!!

I mean that can be done, I'm just frustrated with Bud cause I even asked him before I made the purchase and he said " I guarantee that they'll all line up with your SW bumper".
