Steering wheel vibration Poll
Have you had Steering wheel vibration/shimmy/wobble problems in your 201X 4runner? I am running a stock Trail model.
I've had no success getting rid of mine. Dealer tried tire balances with GSP9700, new Bridgestone tires, and new Michilin tires
Here's my saga:

There aren't many responses yet, but a disturbing trend is already forming; all who have a wobble have not found a fix yet. I have less than 4K miles so far, so I may not be a good sample.

~25K on my 2011 SR5 - while it doesn't do it all the time it does occasionally. Might be getting new tires later this year and will see if that fixes it...

Steering Wheel Wobble - Deadly Scionide
Check out my thread. I had an issue with it, but my tech was able to fix it with some intense, repeat INTENSE diagnostics. They kept it for 2 days and found it was an improperly mounted an balanced tire from the factory. Doesn't do it AT ALL now.

After what I've been through regarding tires (see first post), i highly doubt it's the tire. I'm running the michiclin latitude now which is supposed to be the smoothest ride for the 3 tires that fit my trail model.
I hope KDSS isn't causing this.

Have you been anywhere else besides your dealer? If you have a thread on your problem post a link so everyone knows what has happened. I know I did several tests when I got my 4Runner because I had a vibration in seat. I fixed it with a simple air pressure adjustment but I actually had to use some method to testing. I found different surfaces, (concrete, macadam) and different speeds (45-75 mph) and even different surfaces of same material (worn vs new) gave me different vibrations and feel. I eventually picked the best local road surface that gave least vibration and used that for my tests. I tested tire pressures from 32 psi to 44 psi at 2 psi increments. Eventually settling on 35 psi for almost no vibration.
Anyway, post a link or something detailing your method of troublshooting.

Yes, I have the shimmy.
1. Balanced at Toyota Dealer, shimmy came back a few days later but would go away after tires warmed up
2. Blanced at Discount Tire, shimmy came back next morning and went away after tires warmed up
3. Balanced and rotated at Discount tire, felt much better, but still have the occasional shimmy in the morning or when the vehicle has been sitting
4. Balanced at Toyota dealer after leaving it overnight. They agreed that there is an issue.
5. Balanced at Toyota dealer on Hunter 9700 machine. Felt great driving it home. Thought the problems was fixed. Shimmy came back next morning and is consistent most of the time between 62-70 mph.
6. Going back to Toyota this afternoon. A Toyota engineer is going to be "making his monthly rounds" and the service manager said the eingineer would be able to get this resolved easier vs. the tech having to call Toyota tech support or email them. Who knows.
I'll stand by my gut instinct that these Bridgstone tires are the ****. I did some research on these tires and they are 3 from the bottom on TireRacks opinion/survey results probably for good reason.
ETA: All stock, 7800 miles.

Out of the people who have this issue how many have aftermarket suspension setups?

I noticed this a few times with my '11 LE. Seemed to come and go and would happen at around 60mph. I got new tires about two + weeks ago and haven't noticed it since.

The toyota tech looked at mine and was convinced it was tires, but after all the tire changes I've made (see first post above), it hasn't been resolved. I'm taking it back in to the regional toyota tech on thursday.

I am having the same vibration in my steering wheel. Like everybody else it is not all the time and goes away after driving it about 5 to 10 miles. I talked to the Toyota mechanic and he said he thought it was air in the power steering lines. He told me to tell them when I take it in for the 5000 mile service and he will check it. I have a 2011 SR5 with 3859 miles on it right now. he also said if it was the tires it would do it all the time. He wanted me to wait because he said it might work itself out and quit.
