Just received the URD MAF Sensor Calibrator. Will try to install this weekend and know I'll need to tune it. Just a couple of wire taps and cuts on the ECU and the unit is in. For the tune I am looking to get an Innovate LM-2 Wideband O2 Meter. Will be a little while until I get that $$. You can also buy an exhaust clamp (from Innovate) to clamp the a/f sensor into the tailpipe instead of welding a bung for it. I only want to get the feedback to tune with it so don't want it to be permanently in my vehicle.
Some people say that you get the most accurate readout before the Cats which is why you should weld a bung but Gadget said they tune using the clamp method as well. Heck I'm not racing the thing and I don't want to make a hole in exhaust and weld so clamp it will be.
To tune here is what Mr. Gadget said:
"Will need an OBD scan tool that lets you monitor internal ECU fuel trims and a wideband display unit to know what the AFR is in open loop, and a Window PC with a serial port or serial port adapter."
This says the map is loaded for a 1GR-FE engine with TRD intake but they have NOT tested this setup on a 5th 4runner. Only setup they have tested/tuned on a 5th with this unit is a completely stock 4R. Will let ya know more as I get more involved with it.
Pictures below:
What comes in the box. Tuning software (CD), decal, "Unit", instructions and pin layout (on back of instruction sheet)
Unit itself. Has hole to mount on both sides. Just a funny angle pic
When you unscrew the box you find the serial port where you connect to tune it. They make serial to usb cables if your comp. doesn't have serial connection
