Sliders from White-knuckle Off Road
Hello All,
I was looking for sliders and a friend suggested white-knuckle off road. At the time I contacted them, they didn't have a model for the 5th gen T4R available. They contacted me after developing their model and I thought I'd advise all of you about what the sent. Note: white-knuckle neither asked me to post, nor is giving me a discount for doing so; this is just an FYI. They have a number of options; see their webpage for details. Below is what I was sent:
"I just finished making sliders for the 5th Gen 4Runner SR5 and Trail Edition. Attached are few pictures of each. The pricing will be the same as our 4th Gen 4Runner sliders. They mount to the frame with Ubolts in 3 locations on each side and require no drilling. These are built super tough! Please let me know what you think.
Thanks!
John

Good to see another option out there. I would like to see some photos of how it is bolted to the frame

Heres a pic of the u-bolts, not sure how strong they are but heck what do I know they might be super strong. This is a 4th gen pic but should be the same for the 5th

thanks for the information OP!
I saw your pics on another thread. From what I understand they will fit on a stock Limited/SR5 without any modification of rocker panels or Xreas suspension. Is that correct?
BTW, where did you have it installed?

I would need to know more on how they're mounted before I would be willing to put them on my truck. I have faith in the amount of stress the u-bolts can endure, but I don't have faith that a good knock would shift them forward or aft on the frame. The design doesn't inspire confidence compared to the SW or BB solutions - despite their appeal of not needing to remove/trim rockers.

^I would tend to agree^
U-bolts are not a good mounting solution for sliders. This would rule these out for me.

You guys are funny. U-bolts are just fine for sliders. My Metal Tech sliders have been on my 80 series Land Cruiser for 70,000 miles without issue. It sees plenty of trail time and weighs 6500lbs empty.

I would think they would be fine. If you are worried about them sliding then you could always just run bolts in front and behind one of the mounts to keep it from sliding fore or aft.
They look like really nice sliders and not having to wait for Bud has me considering these, but also a few others as well

There are literally millions of axles- front and rear- out there held in place by (gasp!) U-bolts. I dont see alot of them sliding anywhere, and they are subjected to tremendous forces, in all directions.
Just sayin.

I would be interested in them just for the ease of installation, only thing that would hold me back would be seeing reviews/videos of use. Yes I'm that guy who does not buy anything without reading 500 reviews of it first. Otherwise I like them.

As long as the material spec is correct for predictable use I would have no problem with the mounts. As Antman said, there is a LOT of vehicles running trails that have U Bolt mounting holding the axles and springs together. Could they break or move? Sure, anything can break or move given a long enough lever.

On the first, second, and fourth pic that OP posted, it looks like the rockers MIGHT be trimmed. It looks like they are kind of close to the rocker on the front. If the rockers are not trimmed in these pics, then do they have a different model for rigs with TE rockers, or are they just going to hang lower than SW or BB ones?
