Was gonna buy but......
For a 2012 Ltd, the dealer only took off $750 from the sticker price.

What a joke,,,

When I go to the dealer and they start bs ing me about 500 or whatever off i get up and walk away. When i go to the dealer i say ____ much out the door at ____ much a month for 60 months. if they say no i get up and leave. And drive away with them standing there like *******s.

I saw a TV commerical this week advertising $1000 rebates on 4runners. I do not know if it was Just Arizona or not because I mute all commericals. You might check it out. Sales must be slowing or they would not offer rebates.

That is what I did. Plus, we were going to pay cash. Who the heck pays sticker? I was prepared to get screwed on my trade.

Plus, they knew that next year or so, I would be trading in my 09 runner for one.

Oh well...they must be doing well...

Don't let them know you're paying cash before you agree on a price. They love to strike financing or lease deals.

Why would you waste your time going to the dealer? Once you know what you want, do the deal via email. Only time I go to the dealer is to do the final inspection, final test drive and hand them the check for payment and get your keys. I spend maybe 35 minutes total in the dealership, that's their home court no advantage to the buyer.

I did the same thing, 15 emails, one phone call to place a deposit once we had agreed on a OTD price and one 4 hour drive from Las Vegas to Flagstaff, 35 mins in the dealership and to top it off I ran out of gas in my trade in as I coasted into the dealership.

I do the same thing when shopping for a new car. They should be knocking off at least $3,000 off MSRP or tell them not to waste your time.

You may as well wait another month or two and buy a 2013. The 2013s will be out soon. If you buy a 2012 it will be a year old soon.

this X a million. I wont step foot on the lot until I have a deal worked out. If I am trading in I ask for ballpark trade value (I know what it is worth going in)

I don't know if it's different in the US, but in Canada on the 37 dealers I've contacted when I was buying my runner, only one answered my quote request via email. All the others either refused to discuss money via email or just plain ignored me...

If you go with Costco, it's typically 250 - 400 over invoice. I went to one dealer who knocked of 1,700 off the price. Then he added back in with the cost of them keeping the vehicle on the lot, insurance on it, and various other bs costs to have the car on the lot. FYI - don't go to Michaels Toyota in Bellevue. I left their pretty quickly.
