LIft or tires? Can't decide

I had enough $ to do both, but need to pay down a CC. Opinions on which to do as I am on the fence.

Cooper ST 275/70-17 (or AT/3 that's another decision I'm fighting)
or
OME lift. Don't want CO's so don't say "buy CO's"...

Not sure how a SR5 would look with a lift and the stock lame tires.

Thanks for helping someone out who can't make up his mind

I started with tires. IMHO tires are more important than lift for on-road and off-road performance, although I think I'll lift my T4R one day.

save you money until you can do both.

unless you can fit the tires you want now, without the lift.
if so, then buy the tires first.

if it were me, id save, and do them at the same time.

edit: if you can fit the tires without the lift, then forget the lift altogether. low rig, big tires, is the way to go ;)

I also started with tires, the same tires you mentioned, 275s as well. I went the C load range. They fill out the wheel wells nicely. The LT makes the ride stiffer which is nice, less floaty. Makes the 4R look more stout, just trying to decide whether or not to level the front a bit.

Yes, a lift and stock tires would look goofy.

Get rid of those marshmellows, especially on the sr5. Your ride will improve dramatically.

The 275's should fit without a lift with just pulling the inner fender liner forward a little at most so you can go with those with or without a lift. I personally thought the oem tires sucked and I ran the 17" Duelers for only about 300 miles, but I admittedly like a firmer sidewalled tire.

It kind of depends what you want to lift it for ...looks or function.

For function ....a lift is very beneficial when offroading as you can clear objects around 2 1/2-3 inches higher which normally you would get hung up on or scrape. The more clearance the better!

Lift, then tires later. Why? Because you will probably be kicking yourself for not getting the 285s after the lift (like I did) and end up buying tires twice.

And, you already have coilovers, just not adjustable ones

This^^^ I bought tires first, wish I would have waited and lifted first then bought my tires. I'm still running my 265's!!!

For me I went the lift first. Didnt want to buy tires twice.

no lift

3/2 lift with stock tires.

Hope the pics turn out.

Also the lift improved the ride better than I thought it would. More sure footed and eats up the bigger bumps.

Lift first then tires. At least that is what I am doing. I want the extra travel from the lift. I don't know if I am ready to give up the mileage with bigger tires just yet.

it's funny .. i pondered this same thing for months .. then i made the mistake of looking through the whole lifted pics thread .now i am several thousand dollars in the hole.. and i don't regret one thing ..

my biggest concern was taking off the limited's X-REAS system .when i did the lift . well that was gone the second i drove it .. i was completely blown away how much better it rides with this new suspension . and no more nose dive !

i really don't know why Toyota doesn't build the 4runner this way from the factory

do the lift and tires !! you won't regret it !
