Average Cost for install of a Rear ARB Locker?

That would be including the install of a CKMTA12 ARB On Board Twin Air Compressor.

Is that from a Toyota dealership or a off road shop like 4wheel parts etc?

Not sure what LBR 165 is. Not regearing. The LBR171 does note "without regear".

The shop is one of the best around here. It just seemed like a lot of Johnny so I thought I would see what others were forking out on an install.

That's about right on the labor price with having to custom install and wire/plump the ARB compressor.

Competence ,rather then cost should be the biggest concern as the rear 8.2 diff's are a new design starting in 2010. Make sure you get a warranty on the labor.Very few people know them and they do have to come completely apart for the Locker install and need to set/retorque the gears. Others have had issues with the rear diff set-ups including Metaltech ......Metal Tech TE with Total Chaos long travel and other goodies

I had Chase at East Coast Gear build my 3rd member(rear diff) and it's not hard at all to swap the rear diff's. Maybe 2-3 hrs work to swap 3rds even if it's your first one with plenty of DIY write-ups on the net. The front diff swap/removal is the one that's a PIA!I've had mine in for a little over 6k miles now and it's(they) been perfect.

I saved and waited well over a year and just went ahead and regeared and put ARB lockers in front and rear at the same time. Gears are relatively cheap($300) compared to the lockers and need to be reset anyways.

Here is a picture of my ARB locker and diff

Just seems strange that there are to charges for the diff. right LBR171 says no regear so I would think:

Install x1
Seals x3
fluids x1
bearings x2

compressor charge (still seems high unless they are fabbing a bracket etc)

BUT as Harper when dealing with diff internals experienced installer is worth it's weight in gold.

All the "LBR" charges are for labor. There are three of them.

LBR 168 is the labor to install the compressor.
LBR 171 is the labor to install the locker.
LBR 165 is the labor to Remove & Replace the differential (i.e. actually removing the assembly from the car and putting it back).

Basically, they're charging $550 in labor to install the locker and $300 to install the compressor.
