Wow - Overpriced lift install.
Do to a lack of copious spare time I called a local Big O Tire shop to see what they would charge to install my lift and do the alignment. This includes (all ICON) rear springs, front coil-overs w/ remote reservoir and UCAs. While I happy that they knew they needed to recalibrate yaw rate and do a zero point calibration. A red flag went up went the owner was obviously not happy that they wouldn't be selling me a system of their own (no parts profit for them) and that they weren't familiar with ICON. At first I thought I heard them wrong when he quoted me $975 for 13 hrs!!!
Time to make a few more phone calls.

975! Jeeze, at least that's with an alignment. 13 hrs seems like a lot though. My buddy and I put my lift on in no more than 8 and an alignment shouldn't take all that long. Try that Land Rover place on Arapahoe. Next to the Valero station by the high school. Or maybe even Slee offroad. They're in Golden, not that far from Boulder. Driven by them a couple of times.
Hope you can find a better price!

I suggest finding a shop that's dedicated to either trucks or off road performance. They do lifts, they know what they are doing, takes less time. I paid $180 including an alignment to get mine done at this truck shop that deals with lifted diesel trucks rather than toyotas.

I haven't goten a quote under $800 from 4 different shops in my area to install the stage 6. That includes 2 off road shops, a generic car shop, and my dealer. What causes this huge separation in price?

Funny. When I installed mine I talked to the local Toyota dealer and they wanted $1200. Thant was for lift install and alignment. I was told it was a 10 hour job. I did the lift in about 8 hours by myself without the use of air tools or a lift and I also installed my UCAs at the same time. If I had a second pair of hands and air tools Im sure I could have finished in 5 hours or less. Then paid $70 for alignment at Firestone.

My local shop in Wichita charged $300 including alignment to install my ICON Stage 1. And it only took them about 5 hours to get everything done...

I paid my guy around the $350 range and it was completed with new tires within the work day.

Did ALL my lifts myself and usually took 6-8 hours (by myself) without specialized tools. A Professional shop $350-$390 is plenty.

Here are the differences in cost.
Most shops will look at what it takes to remove and replace an item (R&R). They will look at book labor. This provides a basis of what it should take to replace the item.
All shops have different labor rates in the country. $100+/hr in bigger cities. Sometimes as little as $60/hr in small towns. This in itself will drastically change the overall price. Let's work with 10 hrs for ease. $1000 at one shop $600 at another.
The other thing you guys are not comparing is the kit itself. Let's use upper control arms. To replace a stock control arm is easy. To set up an Icon adjustable is a completely different story. You're now dealing with multiple parts within a control arm. I will easily charge someone an additional hour to set up a control arm. The tech now has to apply anti seize to 8 different threads to set up an Icon arm. Not including the time it takes to thread each part in and measure for equal distance.
Let's deal with coil overs. There is no adjustment for the factory system. If I install your coil over out of the box, can you guarantee your truck will sit level? Probably not, seeing the multiple threads started for unlevel trucks. Now a tech has to adjust the coil overs.
And lastly, how about the alignment. We all know there's only 4 adjustment points from the factory. Add adjustable control arms, now we've got unlimited movement from the top and bottom. Add to this, the knowledge of what to do with those adjustments. I'm sure you guys have read even more threads on this subject.
I'm not saying that all shops are fair with pricing. But talk to them and ask for an explanation of charges. It's your right to know what they're charging for. This wil also give you an idea of wether or not that particular shop knows what they're doing.

Did mine at High Country Performence in Englewood. charges $500 flat for labor but that with purchase of parts, but it sounded like anything was $500. I asked about lights and stuff and he told me it would be better do do all at once versus multiple labor charges.

Quote for Icon Stage 2 lift in Las Vegas
This thread is great... I have been going back and forth on attempting to do the lift myself... And today I emailed a 4x4 shop here in Las Vegas to just get an idea on what it would cost... I figured if it was $300-500 like I have heard for the labor to install the icon stage 2 including alignment... That if I do the lift solo and take it to get the alignment done I wanted to know how much $$$ I would save for other Mods . Trust me I want to do it solo for the feeling of accomplishment but after reading Ducmonsta comment above about all the thought he puts into every lift his shop does, makes me see the value in having someone that know what they are doing do it

+1 For the guys at High Country. The fabbed up some seat brackets and did a lift for another truck I had. Great work and very professional.
