So I just thought I'd report back on my experiences on my first 1000k road trip this past long weekend.
Went to the mountains but kept on pavement (wheel well guard still curing/drying). For me this meant a fair bit of highway/freeway driving plus some paved steep & curvy. All this in a stock 2012 SR5.
Observations:
-Suspension and roll fine for my purposes and I assure you I am one of the faster ones in the corners. You don't forget it's a truck but again I'm happy enough with the compromise between ride and performance.
-Love gear shift location for engine braking and downhill speed control!
-Not the heaviest load I'll have in it but it just takes the weight and sits and rides fine. I will note that those who don't like the rake probably just need to put some pounds in the back.
Rides a lot more level when using the 'Utility' part of SUV.
-Could really used a slightly wider window ledge. My arm and elbow just gravitate there rather than the lower armrest.
-Cruise is a little aggressive and somewhat prone to overshoot on climbs. However it does downshift. I don't know if any other of my older vehicles did this. Nice although maybe ubiquitous now.
-OEM Bug/rock screen looks nice but I don't think it's doing a thing, at least in term of deflecting bugs. Sort of suspected this but did it as an experiment and a bit of deco.
-For the type of vehicle very quiet road and wind-noise wise.
-Fuel economy good but I do hope it improves with a bit of break-in.
-Really need to get on the Ant mods for accessory outlets and fog/driving lights.
