Introducing...
Hello everyone! Veteran of t4r, but new to the 5th gens. I have been in my 3rd gen now for three years and have poured blood, sweat and green backs into molding him to be exactly what I need. Unfortunately, with plans on expanding the family here in the near future, the wife and I decided that something a bit newer, safer and more efficient would be the best thing for us. I knew I wanted either a 5th gen TE or a quad cab short bed TRD taco. in the end it was the runner that won out for the manual transfer case, looks, ride quality, comfort, features and all around capability to get me to where I like to go pu here in the Rockies, and beyond. After looking around for a couple of weeks and scouring the dealers and CL, it was actually a PM on here that led me to my new chariot. A fellow member (his username escapes me) let me know that be was selling his truck locally here in the springs. He was asking just a bit more than I had planned on spending but the truck has 10k less miles than most others that I have found, has KDSS witch had been proving difficult to find, and is practically in showroom condition. After a test drive I was sold. He parked it while I waited for my funds to go through and a week later, it was mine! That was 3 weeks ago. Put almost 800 miles on it since
What we have us a 2010 shoreline blue TE with KDSS, no nav. Black interior. Previous owner had the following g installed:
-ARB bumper.(I know most on here don't really like this and I agree that does make the truck look a bit like some sort of amphibious assault vehicle, but its really grown on me. So not only am I really starting to like the look, I don't really feel like shelling out the dough for a shrockworks right now.
-ARB fog kit
-Warn 9.5xp
-OME heavy lift. Not sure of the exact model numbers, I'm still trying to learn the 5th gen stuff/reboot from the 3rd gen. I like the stance and the ride, but I will more than likely be upgrading this in the future to and icon setup or something pieced together.
-factory sized Goodyear duratracs. I love these tires and have been running them on my 3rd for years. Once these wear out, I'll more than likely size up to a 285.
-aftermarket seat heaters. I'm not sure the brand but boy do they kick some a$$.
Now I did have some reservations about picking up a vehicle that was already modified as I tend to like to do things my own way. However, all modifications were done properly and professionally by Slee offroad out here in CO and in the vehicles 23k miles, it had never been off pavement. That and the seller provided me with a folder containing any and all receipts. SOLD!
While there are definitely a handful of things I greatly miss about my 3rd gen, this truck is amazing and it's a decision I have yet to regret. Mods for the immediate future will include some sliders (probably bud built), synthetic winchline (either Viking or master pull) and some extra lighting as I tend to like as many lumens going down range as I can get. I am on my phone posting this so it's nothing to detailed, but once the new mods get rolling and I get a chance to take it exploring, I'll get a build/timeline thread going. Now hopefully tapatalk will let me post some pics...

Thank you! Not at all. I forget the exact asking price but it was $35 or $36k. I ended up paying him $33. A few thousand more than I was trying to spend but given that he had ALL records on hand and I wasn't able to find anything with fewer miles, I think it was fair

I've seen their work and am quite impressed! I think a rear bumper/swingout will be on hold for a while. While I like Hefty's work, I'd like to see what other manufacturers can do.
On an other note, I love your truck! I'm pretty sure I have a few pics saved of it on my computer somewhere. If you ever feel like getting the rigs out together to stretch their legs, let me know!

Would have loved to! Living out on the East coast now... but will let know when I return.... 2-3 years!
Hefty Fab make a good product. I have been pushing Christo/owner of SLEE OFFROAD to make a rear bumper.... They make a KILLER product. It's only a matter of time.... It is harder to find an LC 80 Series these days. The next logical truck IMO is the 5th Gen 4runner
Well, looking forward to following your progress with the build!
