Here in Boston, 2013 inventory seems to be very low. Some of the larger dealership don't have any. Another has more Land Cruisers than 4Runners.

Is that the same elsewhere?

I gave up on the dealer's inventory when looking for my Trail. I found a dealer who was willing to do an order the way I wanted it. I ordered on July 3, it was built on Sept. 4 and I picked it up on Sept. 28. 3 months total. I was able to get it for 5.7% off of MSRP.

They don't have any at the moment, but usually only stock a few at most.

I know for the Cape this is about it for the dealers. I think the top I saw was 6 or 7 at any dealer at any given point. I think they look for feedback from interested buyers and direct vehicles like those to their lots. I know I told the dealer what I was looking for (specs, options, color) and told him to let me know when they arrived so I could look at them. This was back in 09' when the closest one was 600 miles from me! He called a week later saying 'my' 4R was there. It was the exact 4R I would have ordered, so obviously they had to find one and have it directed to their lot so I could see it and hopefully buy it...which obviously I did.

These dealers are not a far drive if any of the ones above interest you.

The northwest US has plenty of them. Infact, they have TE and Limited on the used car lots as well. However, the east coast appears to discount them more new than they do in the northwest. Every dealer I saw has a few minimum.
