Play DVDs on JBL Nav Screen Help - Any Updates

First of I did search every thread for help but all of the threads were older and not updated. Unless I missed something.. I have not seen and 5th gens complete this...

I have a 2013 Limited with JBL Nav and would like the option to play - watch DVDs on the nav screen. We camp a lot and I have to sit and wait on picking up kids etc. Don't need to use driving... Has anyone been able to do this without major intrustion of the dash and apperance?

The JBL nav does not have a dvd player, so you'd have to use an external dvd player. While I'm sure it may be possible to somehow tap into the video feed for the screen, I don't recall having seen a post by anyone who's done it. The typical consensus has been just to install a dvd/screen combo. Some have used thier ipads for this, some have installed headrest monitors etc. It would be nice if it could play dvds, but it unfortunately, does not.

Good luck, and there are some threads out there on entertainment systems but I'm using tapatalk at the moment so it's a little hard to search them out.

Thanks for the reply. Is there a small dvd player that can be installed in the glove box or console that will easily plug into nav screen.. Has anybody tried this route?

I'm on a pc now, so I was able to find the thread I was thinking about. J.A. did what you're trying with his 4th gen.

This is not exact for the 5th, but may give you something to consider.

His thread is here: Homegrown Video on Nav mod completed.

His writeup is here: http://www.top4runners.com/ja/2007/navvideo.html

Good luck, and be sure to do a write-up if you do it so that other's can benefit from your work.
